| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2007 Interesting floral aroma with stone fruit notes. Bright gold color with a white head that attempts lacing. Thin to medium bodied, with light, creamy carbonation. The flavor starts with spice and stone fruit; could be some peach. Definitely could be apricot - more likely than peach. Finish is fairly dry, and not really bitter. It is hard to believe there is 9% in here. This is really delicious. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 24, 2005 Poured a light very cloudy orange. Head is thin and orange tinted. The aroma is fruity cranberry sauce and banana bread. Makes me think of Christmas candy. The taste is also fruity with peaches, bananas and some toasted bread. Finishes with a slightly spicy nutmeg. Very nice and light on the palate for the abv. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2003 Hazy golden hue with a good frothy off-white head and very good lace. The aroma is very hoppy for a Belgian. Hints of floral hops, pine, peach, strawberry, barnyard, buttered biscuit, allspice, vanilla, and wet paper. The mouthfeel was very heavy as was the taste, syrupy. Tones of citrus and sweet malts up front. The finish had a piney and bitter quality with some acidic and spicy undertones. More twangy has it warms. Light alcoholic feel towards end of tasting. This is a very well made Belgain style brew which is far hoppier than expected. Good complexity and sublime notes. Recommended since I didn't find this extremely sweet at all. SilkTork (4183), Rochester, Kent, England
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2006 Kook’s Farewell Bash. I was certainly curious to try another Avery after my experience with the Maharaja, though a little uncertain as well. I do not enjoy extreme or crude beers - big alcohol, big hops, big sweetness, big sourness. I do prefer balance and playfulness. This beer tends to the extreme in its sweetness, but is not quite as insulting as some extreme beers and is drinkable, if not - for me - that enjoyable. It’s sweet and fizzy like a Belgian pale ale or Triple, but there is a curious lack of character. While some interest is provided by a few yeast notes, the yeast itself is too clean to intrigue. The sweetness dominates and pushes me away, and the alcohol burns. Not my thing. Skinnyviking (4170), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2007 Bottle. Medium high white creamy and lastinhg head. Hazy orange body. Clear and distinct barley malt aroma. Barley malt flavor without much bitterness but on the other hand the high alcohol percentage is well hidden. Carbonation low. Aftertaste long and good barley malt. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
