Aroma of hay, sweet citrus, honey, and maybe a little banana. Fluffy feel, nice mild flavor, smotth with light citrus, clove and spices, light herby and woodsy hop. Alcohol is very well hidden. A nice easy drinking beer with good complex flavor. bullevard (4), Overland Park, Kansas, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2008 The pour was golden and hazy, really quite pretty. The head was small, white and dissipated rather quickly. The smell was fairly faint, especially for the style, Belgian golden ale, but smelled of fruit, maybe apricots, and floral hops. The initial taste was very good, kind of sweet, but in a good way. The finish was also very good with a good hop bitterness. I didn’t get the Avery out of the fridge early enough so the beer was rather cold when I began. That may have muted the aroma and it certainly affected the taste. As the beer warmed to cellar temperature and beyond, hey it was 24 oz, the flavors really opened up. I got a bit of a smell of apple and the hops flavor was more present. Nose is fruity with some candied sugars. Drank this blind, was like a triple. Creamy mouthful with some nice depth of flavors. Some nice fruit notes add a touch of sweetness but this is very drinkable and a nice take on the style. dsean (1), USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 12, 2008 This beer had a hoppier aroma and flavor than I was expecting, especially given the heritage as a Belgian strong ale. It’s a dark golden color, with nice earthy and spicy notes to it. A delicious beer and easily drinkable. Nik925 (305), California, USA

There is a bit of thinness in the middle, maybe too much candi sugar? still, the ABV remains hidden somehow. Expect more yeast flavors but still really good. sjolles85 (90), Tampa, Florida, USA

Sweet smelling, but not over powering. You can taste the alcohol. Over all Tasty but will set up back a lil... KyotoLefty (1471), Kyoto, Japan

Rich citrus and honey aroma, with sweet golden malts. Very fruity. Slightly oxidized, I think, but flavors of honey, tingly, piney, citrus hops. Has big sweetness but is well balanced, with alcohol and a bit of tartness. Smooth and full, yet rather crisp. One of the more successful American made Belgian styles I’ve tried lately. Not as rich as many Belgian or Belgian style Golden Ales. This beer just finishes clean and makes you want to drink more. Really nice mouth feel. Drank next to the Collaboration Not Lititgation. I actually would prefer to drink the Salvation, but rate the CnL slightly higher.
