Commercial Description:
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

The 22 ounce bottle poured a crystal clear, perfectly amber beverage with an ample white creamy head that was mostly lasting and left great lacing on the glass. The aroma was lightly sweet, fruity and spicy with notes of Belgian candy sugar, peach, orange peel and coriander all making their contributions to an overall beautiful bouquet. The body was medium-full with lively carbonation and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. The flavor starts out lightly sweet but is gradually replaced by a spicy, sourness at the finish. There is just a bit of alcohol warmth at the finish as well.

Bottle. Pours a golden color, frothy white head, transparent with lots of rising tiny bubbles, not much lacing. Aroma is fairly tame, yeasty, spicy, fruity, I definitely smell peaches, nutmeg, and some other phenolics. Flavor is dominated by a light fruitiness, apricots and peaches definetly dominate, a hint of a belgian yeast, a touch of spiciness as it finishes. Fairly light body, appropriate for a golden ale like this, some bubbly carbonation, soft in the mouth. All in all, a fine beer, I really enjoyed how the fruity flavors played off of the yeast while remaining delicate in the mouth.

2003 bottle. Thin off white head on clear amber with a few translucent flakes floating. Fruity candi sugar and green raisen aroma with some whiskey. Smooth and still on the palate. A complex fruit basket flavor with fig, yellow plum and dried apricot. Interesting, tart, almost tannic finish that fights with the prior flavors. A really amazing chorus of flavors that doesn’t quite harmonize.

Orange. Very nice aroma of ripe, dripping apricots, citrus fruits, sweet malt and sugars. Sugary as hell in the flavor yet not cloying. Big, bursting fruity flavor with notes of tangerine, apricot, grapefruit and orange. Medium bodied but silky and smooth. A delightful beer.

Pretty good. This was my first tasting of a Belgian Style beer. It went down easily and gave me a nice buzz. The taste was good, but a bit too sweet for me. It had a champagne like quality which I don’t really want in a beer. Good quality beer though.

From MIBRomeo. Appearance: caramel color. White, thin head. Very opaque. Aroma: spicy, grainy, raw sweetness. The aroma is way too strong and not that good. Flavor: RAW, barley, grain. Very strong. I simply don’t like this at all. Palate: too over the top. Overall: WTF were they thinking? I don’t like this one at all. 6, 3, 3, 2, 8 = 2.2
Re-rate per JCap. The appearance is a glowing golden body with a thin bright white head. The aroma is peaches, green raisins, and grains and almost comes off as being a heavily Maris Otter brew. The flavor is red apples, green raisins, peaches, and grains, (flaked barley?). The palate is creamy and medium bodied.

peach color with small white head. yeast, sugary fruit, candy aroma. yeast, grain, spices in flavor. nice warmth going down. a hint of cinnamon in the finish. i think this one is made quite nicely-2/8/06---re-rate--clear golden with a nice soft light fruit aroma. the flavor is very peachy or apricot with some yeast. light bodied and very drinkable. still an excellent beer.

Golden pour with large-bubbled, white head. Strong aroma of cinnamon with sweet fruits, including apple, with clove alongside. The flavor is similar tothe aroma, but stronger. Baked apple pie with cinnamon sprinkled on top comes to mind. But ther e are flavors of other spices, including nutmeg, and a background of European, grassy hops. The body is medium with a bit of a syrupy texture — just enough to help extend the spicy finish.
