Commercial Description:
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

Lightly hazy golden blond color with lots of carbonation and creamy thick head. Lacing is full and complete. The aroma is very earthy and spicy with some notes of yeast and a little hops. The flavor has a moderate alcohol feel along with a good malty yeast body. Some more spices are apparent in the flavor and it has that dry cinnamon feel, earthy. The finish is lightly hoppy, semisweet, dry. This is a unique BSA but it’s not too bad.

Bottle. Pours a golden yellow color, with a slight foamy head. Flavor is mellow ripe fruits, yeasty esters, a bit of pit fruit notes (peach or apricot). Slightly chewy and sweet. Finish is noticeable alcohol burn at the back of the throat. Spicy finish. Pretty solid Belgian strong.

on tap at Elmer Sudd's, orange color, small head, a little on the sweet side with the peach/apricot nectar notes dominating. A good desert beer, but a little is enough

Hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of citrus and ripe, tropical fruits and fresh hops. Pretty much the Avery house character, which I love. Flavour is also more Avery than Belgian, but on the sweet (and peachy) side.

I was little afraid of this one because you know it’s gonna be boozy, it’s just a matter of how boozy it’ll be. mds said the bottle was at least a year old so that’s was a decent sign. Golden in color, slight haze, firm white head, lots of lace. Fruity aroma, some Belgian yeastiness, light spice. Yeasty flavor, fruity again, very light alcohol. Fuller bodied, ther alcohol was hardly detectable. Oh my goodness, a big beer by Avery that didn’t taste like fire water! It was pretty good, too.

Bottle. Golden/yellow color, white head. Fruity, yeasty flavor, quite malty and with some citric notes. Yeast and malt flavor, quite nice fruity notes, some alcohol, nice body.

Pours golden amber with medium-sized white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of fruity, citrusy hops. Flavor is same but also with considerable sweet sugary malt on the finish. With the added sugar, this one is too sweet for my taste. Borders on a medicine-like flavor on the finish with a syrupy mouth feel. Alcohol is evident.

Tap at Pap. I don’t usually like lighter Belgians, but this was very nice. Reminded me of Castelaine de Garde but stronger and with more bite. Tart mulberries, yeast, sourdough bread, funk are what I picked up, mixed up in that classic ’trippel’ taste. Tastes like it’s from Belgium, not Boulder, so I guess they hit their mark.
