Commercial Description:
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

Bottle Fruit, a bit spice. Darker golden, low head. Fruit, a bit spice, hops, some bubblegum and belgian funk. Medium body slick a bit oily mouthfeel.

A Golden haze settles above the light morning dew. . . The aroma of fresh flowers lifts my senses until I am resting on a feathery cloud . . . Subtle spices, yeast, and bread are all present. . . this cloud is soft and delightful. . . gathering my senses I float back to Earth, where several hop vines await me. Another tripel dream, how wonderful.

From the few dozen people i spoke to at the Strong Ale Festival this was quite the talk of the town. This Belgian Golden Strong Ale smacked more of a double IPA than anything, save maybe for its color. The aroma was blisteringly yeasty, extremely hoppy, and had some hints of fruity undertones. The Salvation pouured a nice dark yellow, light amber with a thick thick head, but was more foamy than creamy. The taste was definitely fruity, banana-like, with definite citrus and some MEGA spiceyness in there. The palate was dry as hell by the second sip and could hardly handle the attack of the yeast and spice! Another good one from Avery, but bring on the dark’s...im not feeling loving the spiceyness here.

Golden appearance with a moderate head. The flavor is very acidic like heartburn in a bottle. A very sour flavor is present. Lemons and more lemons. More decent stuff from Avery.

Sample at DougShoemaker’s 2005 December gathering - not sure who brought the bottle. Golden-orange with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, but with some juicy hop notes as well. Flavour is quite agressive, but well balanced, with sweet malts and citric hops playing off each other nicely. Impressive stuff.

Not a bad tripel but not a great one. Actually, it’s hard to call it a tripel at all given that it lacks a certain Belgian yeast character (like it’s brother the Reverend). Slightly hazy golden orange color with a quickly diminishing head. Nose is sweet, lightly spicy. Mouthfeel is nice and thick but just a bit lacking in carbonation. Very lightly tart with a stronger-than-expected woody bitterness in the finish.

Clear gold beer, good white head, heavy pearling. Light sugar, just a hint of coriander, a tad of cookies, rather sweet-oriented, but all very restrained. Apricot, dried mango, sweet, but alcoholic-brandy like; pineapple retronasal, very yeasty even when the beer is 100% clear. Alcoholic, alcoholburn and lighter in body because of the ABV. This is some Tripel. I’m told it’s drier on draught, less sweet, but still I’m impressed. Great - exept for the nose. The label is art in itself.
