jb (774), Rochester, New York, USA Jul 2, 2008 Nice looking bright orange with foamy head that recedes quickly and leaves some lacing. Aroma of banana, butterscotch, apples, sour and yeasty. Feel is rich, sticky, boozy but in a good way. Tastes of cinammon, alcohol, it is really good.
joshwilfong (559), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 20, 2008 -golden yhellow with only a mild head and low carbonation. Not your classic-appearing Belgian-style golden. Mild esters on the nose. Flavor of light candi sugar with some yeasty esters and clove with a fair amount of alcoholic warmth. A flavorful brew, but they don’t necessarily mesh perfectly. A decent strong golden ale. CaryTheDude (489), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Nov 19, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Aight, golden ale? This in’t a golden. Almost barley wine tendencies. Very very sweet nose and the alcohol is apparent from the beginning. Very interesting brew, with some good and bad tendencies. tarjei (1370), Bryne, Norway Oct 29, 2008 65 cl bottle at Skallerup Klit. Dark amber to brown color, disappering white head. Aroma is strong fruit and sweetness, hops and hints of alcohol. Flavor is very sweet with dried fruit and alcohol. Nice. sebletitje (579), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2008 Pours golden hazy, beige head.
Aroma, candi sugar and yeasty.
Taste, malty, thick grainy notes and lots of alcohol with sweet honey. Some fruits (citrus).
Overall sweet with a medium body and thick mouthfeel. Leaves a light apple/cider taste. sayravai (3224), Helsinki, Finland Oct 25, 2008 (Bottled, 0.65l) Hazy golden-amber with a small, lacy head. Aroma of grainy, sweetish malt, spices, yeast and berries. Sweet and cinnamon-spicy, grainy-malty flavor with berry hints and yeast. Without yeast the flavor is slightly rough with ashy hints, and a touch of alcohol. Medium to full body with soft carbonation. A bit too sweet and grainy, although better with yeast. The label is probably the most beautiful ever seen in a beer bottle, but the contents are merely average for a Belgian Strong ale.
