It is a very hazy color, cannot see through it but it is not muddy. The beer is very vinous and rosy (rose water) with some sweet oak sugar. It’s like lightly sweet medicinal, floral, candy. Its all a bit mushed up and not strong. Not really sour, a bit tangy is all. I really liked Brabant but this is just very uninteresting.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 29, 2009 12 ounce bottle, bottled Sept. 18 2009. A big thanks to Jeremy for this, and thanks to Eric for bringing it. Pours a opaque red-brown color with a medium white head. The aroma is strong; sweet funky brett and barrel, light vinous wine notes. A tart and funky flavor; brett, sweet french oak, light fizzy vinous flavors, sour and very much like a white wine or even champagne. Perhaps a bit of bourbon lingers on the end the palate suggesting sweeter flavors that ultimately lose out to barnyard funk and vinous sour flavors. No alcohol present at all really and very easygoing, not over the top in any aspect. Davinci (296), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Well, I;ve waited tis long to try this and man am I far from dissapointed. Aroma is wonderfully funky, starting with leathery brett with berry skins and must. There is a wonderful orvalish quality to the aroma that begs for repeated inhalations. I really can’t get enough of the aroma of this beer. Pours a barelt hazy orangish red with medium off white head. Medium lacing. As it warms, aromas of tart cherry funk come to the forefront. Nice elements of barrel and brett dominate. The flavor continues the exploration of depth with notes of dry tannic cherry skin, concord grape, balanced woody barrel notes, and a drying brett funk. Mild metallic blood like notes weave themselves into the flavor without being distraccting.. Carbonation is mild and pleasant. The finish is drying and tannic, but not overly so. Faint hints of fruit skins persist into the finish. Truly a remarkable beverage and job well done by avery. I just wish this had the distribution of brabant. BuckeyeBoy (1670), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2009 bottle. mildly opaque burgundy colored body with a small white head. nose of pedio and lacto with a rich wooden black cherry fruit note (a little candied) and a mild to medium sweet balsamic note. texture is silky, carbonation is soft and presents the acidity well. bright and effervescent on the approach, it turns from the black cherry fruit notes to dried apricot and peach fuzz in the finish. medium to heavy acidity, soft finish but dissipates quickly. one of the better recent beers from avery but I have little faith this will survive in the bottle past 3-4 months. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Bottle - thanks Toby. Dull orange color with a large sandy head. Smooth and mellow nose, yet rich with vinous fruits and oak. Taste starts off sour and tart. Oaky, tanins, vinous, and finishes dry. Nice. RollinHard (761), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Pours a dark reddish copper color with a long lasting off-white head. Aroma definitely reflects all the barrels and yeast involved. Notes of red wine, tannins, mustard, wood, pecans, buttered toast, pears, Sourness is well-integrated and not a strong dominant character. Tastes vinous, slightly sweet with plenty of wood, bitter nuts, toast, mustard, and red wine. Finishes surprisingly bitter and dry with toast, wood, bourbon, and roasted pecans. Medium to full bodied, warming with a mild heat presence, balanced between a creamy and slick mouthfeel. The sourheads will NOT enjoy this beer because there’s some lingering sweetness and it’s not extremely sour. However, I really enjoy the balance and the fact that I can taste every barrel’s contribution and it all makes delicious sense. Very nice!
