Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

06’ batch: pours a somewhat cloudy dark purple with a nice two finger fluffy tan orange head. aroma is yeast, sugar, and hops there is also malt, dark fruits, and a little alcohol. has a full body with good lacing and a touch of carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma, but a lot sweeter and stronger a long with more of the abv. has a very syrupy mouth feel and an alcohol burn going down. it also has a big warming effect on the body. a lot going on with this beer and not my type. it was definitely an experience and people need to try it at least once. a good winter warmer if you can handle the beast.

2007 bottle...pours a very little head, yet with a grayish tan head that dissipates unless you tease and taunt "the beast" in the glass....smells of sweet malt and high alcohol also figs and cloves..... on a vigorous swirl, the beast becomes wild with foam....sweet and thick....strong alcohol flavor with the intermingling of an almost port- like taste.....like a raisin soaked in alcohol, with a fig spritz, quite complex...I’m sure there is a lot I’m not identifying ....but overall its a sipper

2005 vintage bottle. Oh my lord. Who in their right mind could create a beer like this. Thank you, thank you, thank you for a true nectar of the gods. Poured a deep brown with little off-white head. The aroma was an assault on the sense with licorice, molasses, vanilla, raisins and oak. It was dry on the palate like a red wine with an oak flavor and a lot of alcohol. This beer is definitely not for everyone only those who can brave the beast.

bottle 2006. poured with a nice caramel head. smelled very much like a barley wine with extra malts and fruits. the alcohol definitely warms you up as you go so i understand this being a winter beer. it tasted very full of flavor and went well on the palate. after awhile though it becomes a little too sweet for my taste and becomes more like cough syrup.

(2006 vintage - 14.6%) Pours a deep copper/amber with brown highlights that is remarkably clear. It also has a medium-sized, short-lived, yellow/tan head consisting of large bubbles that leave lots of lace on the glass. The aroma is chockful of malts, malts, and more malts. There are also aromas of caramel, hard candy, raisins, dates, and honey. The flavor is about the same: it starts with tons of sweet, sugary malts. There are other sweet flavors, too (honey and molasses), and there is some fruit in there (honey-covered dates). The middle of the tongue detects the slightest touch of bitterness - light but accented by the sting of carbonation. The finish is very full-bodied, uber-strong with malt, and full of alcohol. The mouthfeel is creamy and well-carbonated, and it is also quite thick - almost syrupy. Overall, a very special dessert beer that really shows the flavor of malts. The only regret: it could have been better were it a little bit drier and with a touch more balance of bitterness.

Bottle, bought @ Wohlenbergs, Sønderborg. Pours a pretty woody red-brown with a firm, yellowish head. Aroma has dough, heavy malty caramel and a lot of alcohol. Very oily mouthfeel. Flavour is extremely vinious, a clear presence of alcohol at the beginning. A lot of malty sweetness with caramel and a little hops. Very warming afterwards. More of a barley wine than a BSA. Too much alcohol, I’m afraid.

Tap. At the 14th Avery Anniversary party. A sweet finish with a heavy malty taste and noticable alcohol content. Crude Oil appearance with a small tan creamy head, smells of sweet hoppy and malty aroma.

holy #%@!. 2005 batch. wow. a friend of mine grabbed a bottle at a liqour store today and split it between 4 guys. very hot, although the 04 version has to be more. i think i might prefer this one better, because of the less alcohol/ more taste. even though the taste and smell is a beast. ’04 Batch: could be just as hot as the 05, i couldn’t really taste a difference in alcohol at all. very well hidden with just a faint aroma.
