Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

A complex beer, it pours a deep ruby colour with quickly disappearing head. The aromas are varied...honey, caramels, fruits, and has a sweet (not too sweet) taste with raisins, spices and honey. Not a beer to rush, it takes quite a few sips to capture all the flavours.

Batch 4. Pours a deep, syrupy red with a lot of bubbles and a large, off-white head. Aroma is tremendously sweet and syrupy. Sugar, fruit, raisins, yeast. Smells quite a bit like a Barley Wine, actually. I think I can detect some alcohol in there as well. Mouthfeel is quite thick and syrupy and it warms the mouth. Very sweet and strong flavor. This is certainly an interesting brew. I don’t know how much I can say I like it or it’s my style but interesting indeed.

Rating #666! 22oz bottle, batch 2 - Pours ruby and mostly clear as most of the yeast stuck to the bottom of the bottle. There’s a very thin head. The aroma is of oak, malts, and alcohol. Sweet malt flavors are accented by some dark fruit tones and alcohol warmth. At over 18% abv, one can’t help but feel it even though the three years of aging seems to have toned down the heat a bit as I expected it to be even hotter on the palate. This one is definitely a sipper and it’s a good one. It didn’t taste quite as complex as I expected. While it was enjoyable, I think one of the batches around 15% abv might be a little better.

I agree with the poster from PA. This was one of the worst beers I have ever had. I love other Avery brews but this one is the worst I have had in a long long time. Kind of like drinking mouthwash and surgar...

Bottle. Batch 4. Nut amber with good thick white head. This one has a thousand things to offer. The question is whether you can appreciate it or not. Strong spicy, alcohol + malty aroma. Taste gives the warmest feel I’ve ever tried from a beer. Sweet toffe, caramel, dark fruits (prunes & raisins) & sugar. A punchy amount of bitter hops is present as well. Overall an extreme alcohol & sweety feel. We were 2 guys sharing a little bottle and that was defenetly a wise choice! This 12 fl. oz. bottle costs around 12 US in Denmark!

Pours a four finger light brown head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Light carbonation and very heavy bodied. Sweet molasses nose. Sweet molasses flavor dominates, the high ABV is noticeable and warming. 12oz bottle a gift from Vintage Cellars Blacksburg, VA
