Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Bottle, batch 4. I absolutely love this beer! Beautiful to look at, wonderful to smell and so nice going down in both flavour and palate. Full of raisins, figs and sweetness combined with just the right amount of alcohol. Has so many elements of a good port and reminds me of the best barley wines I’ve tried (which I’d say it is).

Sickly sweet beer! It had a syrupy honey aftertaste. Don’t get me wrong, this is one damn good beer! Thanks Mike K!

Let me start by saying I like this beer. A sweet aroma of hops. A flavor of alcohol and light malt. A full bodied full palated beer with a strong after tast eo alcohol that I really liked. I think my favorite of the style. I’m almost certain that this review was posted wrong on the Beast from the Wood list. I cut and pasted to here and deleted the Wood posting. Sorry about that stevo

This was a horrible beer. I really did not like it and had to pour it down the drain.

Batch #1 at 15.7%. Poured a slightly cloudy brown color with reddish hints and a small light brown head. Aroma was very rich and complex. I noticed a little belgian yeast, maybe some of the raisins, and some very rich maltiness. Flavor was pretty sweet and almost tongue numbing, but still quite tastey. Although there was a lot of alcohol coming through this was still pretty tastey and drinking half of this bomber was a challenge. This beer kind of reminds me of a strong barleywine. Not to bad, these high alcohol beers are fun to put down sometimes.

2005 Batch 3. Very dark murky brown with faint head. Strong sweet ripened fruit aroma along with some molasses.. Flavor is ripened fruits, spice and sugars. Maybe some ripened dates as well. It is a thick, heavy, sticky, ass kicker. I thought the alcohol was hidden rather well but it does warm the belly pretty quick.

Very interesting beer. Great packaging. Nice pour, Nice aroma. Unfortunately, you have to actually taste the beer to complete the rating process. Possibly the worst-tasting beer I’ve ever had. I paid almost $7.00 for a bottle and had to pour it out half way. That must be how they make their money.

12oz bottle. Batch 4. Aroma: Lots of sweetness in varying forms. Molasses, candi sugar, honey, dark fruits. Some light spiciness with a bit of pepper. Alcohol is fairly strong here, too. Appearance: Light copper in color and fairly clear. Light beige head was huge and creamy with great retention. Great lacing. Flavor: Very sweet. Molasses, honey, and dark fruits (raisins, cherries, figs). Slight oxidation. Alcohol is hot and heavy throughout. Some hop flavors right before the finish. Sweetness lingers long after the finish. Palate: Full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Heavy alcohol warming over entire mouth. Overall: Similar to Meph, in that it’s too sweet and beginning to oxidize already. I could drink a few ounces of this, but a full bottle is too much. Way too sweet and alcohol hot. Close to a drainpour.
