Aroma of sweet cookie dough with some plums and dry fruits is quite pleasing. Taste is mostly dominated by the sweet (maybe too sweet) cookie dough malt and plums, which are quite pleasant, but also a strong shot of alcohol which I couldn’t cared for and kind of ruin it for me. This beer remind me of a 50/50 mix between a sweet barleywine and a strong Belgian ale but really lacking in balance. Body is too light and less filtration would have benefited this beer. hophead75 (1954), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Huge aroma, alcohol, fruits, and sugar. Taste is sweet honey and malts with spicy hops and lightly bitter, full thick syrupy body with sweet fruit, and some alcohol burn in the finish. Closer inspection reveals a suspension of tiny particles. Caramel, apple pie and sherry. Very sweet up front; honey, grape soda and port wine. A touch of carb helps cut through the cough syrup body. Finishes with rum raisin and fruit cake. Too much sugar, too much alcohol. I tried this about nine months ago and tastes much the same except slightly more cloying and concentrated. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 29, 2006 12 oz. bottle, Batch 3. Deep amber/brown, medium light beige head. Vinous nose with some sour notes, and aromas of dark fruits. Rich, thick mouthfeel, very little carbonation. Sweet flavors of grape, raisin, caramel, and dark brown sugar give this a port or maeira like quality. Some bitterness in the finish that is quite persistant, but yielding to the sweetness. Alcohol is quite evident throughout. Best drunk slowly over a long period after dinner. beachbum25 (783), Powellville, Maryland, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2006 12 oz bottle-2005 vintage-poured a copper color w/no head but some moderate lacing. Aroma just explodes out of the glass, deep & hard to describe. Definite Belgian influences, sweet, fresh, floral, malt, molasis, roasted nuts, brown sugar, citrus, syrup flavor. Long, long, long sweet finish with a strong alcohol kick. This is a big beer, maybe a little too young & sweet-will probably be even better with age Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Coppery pour, beige head. Big caramel and fruit nose - dates, figs, big maltiness, brown sugar. The flavors are huge extensions of the nose, plus a big alcohol wallop. Hot, boozy finish. This thing will kill ya, but you’ll die with a smile... drmatt (51), THE LOU, Missouri, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 3, 2006 2004 18.1% Bottle. 2 years old. I could smell this baby as soon as the cap came off. Aroma is very rich with sweet malts. Couple sips of this stuff and the heat begins to hit you. The heat is very prominant but overall the beast is pretty smooth. A nice job with the alcohol but it still a little tough to drink a 22. Needs a 10oz bottle.
