Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

mesmerizing clear ruby/amber color. The smell of raisins and plums rushes out of the bottle(as well as the strong smell of alcohol). Smooth sweet taste of raisins, plums, honey, and alcohol dominate this beer. Should be aged to cut the strong alcohol finish. Thick and syrupy with high alcohol content means that this beer should be drank sloooow. Thanks for the bottle Ryan!!

On tap at the source, 4/15/06, with help from none other than Larry Avery: He told us it was 18% ABV. Holy crap! Strong sugary beer that’s wickedly easy to drink (dangerously so). Almost a wine-like mouthfeel. Outstanding strong ale.

Bottle. This beer has all of the extreme qualities that I disliked in Memphistopoles. Way too sweet w/ prunes, fruit, figs, and raisins. Amazing how much this resembles Memphistopoles. Way too sweet for me.

22 oz bottle, (probably batch 2) many thanks to slob for sending this! Pours hazy ruddy brown color with red tinges and little to no head. Extremely sweet aroma, brown sugar, dark fruits, a little we carcboard, alcohol and fresh pine sawdust. Flavor is more brown sugar, lots of alcohol, raisins, cranberry juice and more alcohol - this one is a bit hot and mediciney for me. Full body, little carbonation. Should have let it age a few more years...

Bottle (Batch 3) Scarlett color, thin light brown head. Cherry aroma. The flavor was of cherries and sugars, the Belgian yeast was apparent as well. The finish was just a touch bitter, but the mouthfeel was very sticky. A solid beer.

Bottle. Creamy light brown lasting head. Clear dark red body. Aroma of blackberries. A good deal of sweetness, a good deal of bitterness, large mouthfeel, you may taste the alcohol but not as unpleasant as expected because of the honey malt used I guess.

Pours a darkish red/brown. Aromas of spice, coriander, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor has an alcohol taste to it, mixed with a nice smokey dark fruit. Also has strong hints of spice.
