Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Bottled, 2006 version, 14.6%. Clear redbrown color, medium off-white head. Aroma of candy sugar, sugar cane, molasses, sweet, alcoholic, american strong ale like. Very very sweet taste, it has that american strong ale like taste, but way too sweet I would say. It surely has potential as a good barley wine, but for now it is too sweet.

Bottle from Total Wine. Brown pour. Aromas of vanilla, caramel, raisins, honey and good solid malt with a hint of hops. Flavor is sweet with caramel, toffee, dried fruits and a good hit of hops.

Bottle, at various locations during the Zythos weekend, March 2006. Copper bronze, no head and good condition. Big barley wine sweet sticky maltiness and an aged oaky woodiness in the aroma, intense and sweet in the mouth with more woody oak notes, a background bitterness and some unsubtle alcohol, lingering sticky sweet maltiness in the finish.

Batch 4 I believe. The first big avery beer that has really clicked with me, other than the IPAs. Sweet licorice aroma. Long lasting thin head. High alcohol but very drinkable. Sweet, not cloying. Maple and licorice. Hints of molasses and raspberries.

Thanks to Joebrew for this one. Exceptional. This beer has one of the best aromas I have ever found. Loaded with yeast, wheat, and lots of fruit. Appearance is ordinary and misleading; it doesn’t give any indication of the tremendous flavors that will follow. This is a very sweet beer, almost a dessert beer. There is some sensation of alcohol on the palate but it is well hidden in the flavor and aroma.

(Rating number 500!!!). Clear classy brown colour with hints of ruby. Thin and creamy beige head. Powerfull aroma of banana, apples, raisin, alcohol, pepper and port. More pwerfull flavour of yeast, banana, oranges, sugar, honey and apples. Strong peppey alcohol flavour. Strong alcoholic finish with notes of madeira, banana and butter. A tasty beer but those "bomber" bottles is way too big.

Batch 5 (2007). Wow, and now for something completely different. . . Aroma is complex. Caramel, resin, raisin, apple, banana, honey, dates and figs, as well as alcohol. Pours with a small off-white/to almost yellow head. Excellent Lacing. Body is clear and an amber red/brown. Really shocking taste. An explosion of flavor accompanied by an explosion of alcohol, it may be a bit too sweet. Starts off quite sweet and goes a bit acetic. Body is creamy smooth offset by lively carbonation and a strongly alcoholic and mildly astringent (not really in a bad way) finish. If you like your hard liquors then the palate is awsomem but very much unlike any other beer that I have found so far.
