Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

2005. Pours a murky red orange with wisps of a light tan head. The nose is super rich, raisiny, caramel, cloyingly sweet, molasses, oxidized. Taste some prune, strong flavor, very rich and sweet, god awful. No Belgian character.

bottle 2006. poured with a nice caramel head. smelled very much like a barley wine with extra malts and fruits. the alcohol definitely warms you up as you go so i understand this being a winter beer. it tasted very full of flavor and went well on the palate. after awhile though it becomes a little too sweet for my taste and becomes more like cough syrup.

Bottle (thanks to Floydicus)Huge fig, raisin, date, rum and brown sugar first sip that quickly gives way to a massive hop flavor. It just seems to be missing some sort of complexity, maybe just because it is labeled "Grand Cru" that I was expecting some more magic, but all the flavor is there with a massive firey breath of alcohol at the finish. Interesting big beer!

Deep reddish appearance, creamy head formation. Aromatic berry, cranberry aroma, fairly heavy bitter citrus. Acidic flavor with thickish cranberry and blackcurrant. Heavily hopped, bitting finish.

2007 bottle. This amber ale poured with a short beige head, eliciting a sweet malt aroma. The flavor is quite complex with a nice malt/hop balance, fruitiness and a slightly alcoholic finish.
