Pit fruit and alcohol aromas. Thick molasses and raisin with a lasting candi finish. Sweet and alcoholic -- but complex and satifsyingly portlike. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2004 Bottle. Garnet body with minimal head. First thing you taste is prune, alcohol, and wood. There are also notes of molasses and candy sugar. There is a good amount of sweetness here that isn’t overbearing. The alcohol is a bit overpowering and burns going down. This tastes a little green, and you can tell that some time in the cellar would do this some good. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 4, 2004 Updated: Sep 23, 2004Just had the new 18.1% Beast. Awesome. Pours a deep ruby/copper. Complex and intense aroma of fruit and syrups and hops. Just a power-packed nose. Feels warm and smooth and slightly syrupy in the mouth. Gives that esophogeal warmth as it heads down to the stomach. The flavor is sweet and fruity, with the heat of distilled spirits. This is excellent and something to cellar and age.
15.7% VERSION: The Beast. My first car was a 1957 Ford Failrlane 500 with a big T-Bird engine. On the front fender, just back of the headlight, I applied the name The Beast. It was forever known as that among my cronies. And now, Avery The Beast. This poured a cherrywood color with a beige head. The aroma was fruity and spicy and, hmm, gingerbread. Syrupy, rich, and creamy feel in the mouth. The flavor was also fruity and spicy and that touch of gingerbread. Molasses. Rich and full. Worthy of the name The Beast. Thanks, Chris (belgianhomebrew), for this trade. Much enjoyed. illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Thanks to YourDarkLord for bringing this out, even when there was plenty beer still on the table. Pours copper/ bergundy with a wisp of a white head. Sweet plummy and alcohol nose. The sweetness really hits you up front, with flavors of port, raisens, honey. Some spicy cinnamon hotness on the finish. Not bad, but a litte too sweet for my personal taste. lithy (1800), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 2, 2009 Rating #666. Batch 4, Bottle 2006. Dark earthy brown with a nice lasting cover of light tan head. Big alcohol soaked fruits, raisins, plums, nice maltiness for the aroma. For the taste, it has a nice syrupy feel, brown sugar and more raisins, plums, then a warming but balanced alcohol finish. Palidor19 (1791), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2006 This Beer reminds me of the Samuel Archangel beer, only a step below, Its got the look, the smell and the taste. However unlike the Samuel its hops is a bit more astringent. The aftertaste gives off a slightly unpleaset taste. Worth a try sunevdj (1785), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

The nose is wonderful - honey, malt, greenish hops, cotton candy & vodka. The flavor.. Well.. this bad boy needs to age a long, long time. Disappointing.
