Sweet sour, fruity aroma and a sour velvet fruoty, alcoholic taste. Medium to full body and a sweet sour finish. The alcohol is hidden very vell, just don´t like sour beers. A lovely pale amber brown colour with a good beige head. A totally bonkers smell of salt and vinegar crisps. Huge, almost sickly, malt and obviously some alcohol but not as hardcore as you would expect. Jesus Christ this is a glorious tasting beer. It’s a barley wine with some serious knobs on. Massive malty hit, gorgeous chewy alcohol, huuuuge hop complexity, slight card and a fantastic caramel and bitter finish. The flavours are utterly fantastic but the alcohol kills it far too much. Although it’s hugely complex, it would benefit so much from a little restraint. I know that’s not what it’s about but I don’t think it deserves any plus points from being labelled acurately. Cut the abv in half and this has incredible depth and barrel loads of excitement. As it is, it’s just an over the top booze fest. Very good indeed but a far cry from the journey you get from a JW Lees harvest or a Westy. To sum it all up, amazing stuff, could be even better. thewolf (5827), Kolding, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Bottle, bought @ Wohlenbergs, Sønderborg. Pours a pretty woody red-brown with a firm, yellowish head. Aroma has dough, heavy malty caramel and a lot of alcohol. Very oily mouthfeel. Flavour is extremely vinious, a clear presence of alcohol at the beginning. A lot of malty sweetness with caramel and a little hops. Very warming afterwards. More of a barley wine than a BSA. Too much alcohol, I’m afraid. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma of molasses, leather, mustiness, leaves, raisins, and alcohol. Syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor of black licorice, alcohol, and candy sugar. Flavor is similar to Jägermeister. Nice marketing. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2004 Cheers Raindog for ruining my palate Copper body, rather clear. Off-white film which is actually raher impressive for a 15% beer. Nose is very alcoholic, overpoweringly so, but I must admit there’s lots of good stuff under. A huge fruity malt of plums, peachs, maple, caramel. Subdued hops profile hide behind the nose burning alcohol. Palate is rather complex of an undescribable intensity. Every bit of your mouth is attacked with flavor and such a beer just can’t be balanced, no matter the malt/hops effect. Beyond words sweetness of maple, toffee. Burning lingering bitterness attack. It honores its name as being a mere agressivity piece of a beer. It would actually be very interesting to contemplate without the gross alcoholic burn. This is tongue-messing, a tongue sunburn, but so complex underneath.. yummy chocolate, plums, dates.. Very full bodied, low-medium carbonation level. Anyway, you know what you’re in for when you buy this, don’t you? It’s worth trying. Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England

I forgot to write down the notes for this one as i was too busy dancing and singing and socialising as one does on a thursay nite wrecked at home with a chum, however it just so happens that this beer is soo hardcore that the chum didnt finish his so i can rate it again now. Aroma is everything i love about belgiun ale, sweet yeasty fruity, cellar, sherry, rum, brown sugar, plums, really intence and really appealing, the age is showing nicely, im guessing that this would have been a whole point less fresh. Taste is full on, i mean the body is nearly dark lord, coats the mouth sticky character, alround similar to the aroma, you can feel the alc far more than taste it, finish says come now your getting far too drunk again, however also says give me more! hopscotch (5537), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

This beer rocks!
Murky, ruby colored ale with a khaki-colored head. Decent, swirling retention.
The nose is of alcohol, smoke, molasses, dried plums, olives, caramel, toffee... everything sweet, malty and alcoholic.
The flavor delivers a hefty dose of warm alcohol as well.
Although the sweet malt and sugars end up winning the sweet/bitter battle, the beer is fairly well-balanced by the very decent hop profile and alcohol. Vineous with notes of brown sugar and raisins. Ultra full-bodied with a sticky, alcoholic mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, bitter-sweet, alcoholic finish. Great aging potential. The abundance of alcohol in the aroma and flavor doesn't scare me off or offend me... especially in the middle of a very cold Winter. World class stuff!
