Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

18.1% bottle. this was something i had waited (and not long enough) to try. upon pouring and inspecting the beer, it resembles any other high abv beer - very little head, disappears quickly - dark red in color. flavor ..... this is where it was lacking (so to speak). flavor is almost entirely masked by alcohol. this beer was stronger tasting than the scotch i was drinking before i decided to delve into this. there is a nice sweetness that is apparently for the first 3 or 4 sips of this beer, then your palate is numb, and tasting the rest of it is virtually impossible. i wanted to like this beer, i really did, but in the end, i poured about 20% of it in the sink. this is certianly not a beer to drink by yourself, nor is it one to drink anywhere close of 5 years after you buy it. maybe ill get another one and let it sit for a long long time, but im not real sure. a clear disappointment for me.

Pours a orange amber color with a white head. Aroma is of sweet malts, molasses, and alcohol. Flavor is sweet malts, dried fruit and loads of alcohol. Could not finish a whole 12 oz bottle way too much alcohol.

Pours a four finger light brown head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Light carbonation and very heavy bodied. Sweet molasses nose. Sweet molasses flavor dominates, the high ABV is noticeable and warming. 12oz bottle a gift from Vintage Cellars Blacksburg, VA

2 x 12 oz. bottle shared by KAggie97 (2006) and Zinister (2005) at the "Double Tree Houston" tasting.

2005 - pour is an orangey caramel with a very limited tan head. Aroma is honey, caramel malt and dry fruit (raisin). Taste has the honey, raisins and alcohol, though it is mostly hidden by the caramel sweetness. Good balance rate - 3.7.

2006 - Pour is orange-caramel with a small-medium tan head that lasts for a bit. Sweetness, floral and then a ton of alcohol heat. Not quite ready yet - 3.4.

Large tan head that lasts. Good looking red brew, bright. Nose of cherries, malt and some alcohol. Full bodied, lots of alcohol heat. Hints of caramel, cherries with a touch of fruityness. Alcohol is just too big all around. Medium sweet finish. Laying some down to see if it mellows. An interesting brew. Truely a beast!

2004 bottle opened for christmas eve.the beast poured a beautiful murky ruby red with a small head that did not stick around for long.the aroma gave off a complex mixture of bubblegum, candy, raisins, plums, belgian candy, and a bit of yeast.i figured due to the fact that the alcohol was well hidden in the aroma,it would be in the flavor too.I WAS WRONG!loads of alcohol all the way through with the flavors of candy, and sweet malts hidding in the background.i think im gonna need a chaser to drink this.
