Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

I brought the ’05 for theisti and KAggie 97. KAggie brought the ’06. 2005: Clear mahogany color with very little head. Big raisin and maple and honey nose. Huge alcohol warming sensation with strong candied and sugar flavors. RATING: 7/4/8/4/16 = 3.9 2006: Similar in appearance to the 2005, but with a foamy tan head. Take some raisin and brown sugar and mix it with bourbon aromas. Nice. Not initially, with lots of candied fruits like apricots (and raspberries as it warms) as well ass rose and floral notes...and these all get swept away by cloying sweetness. Seems like it needs more time to mellow just a bit. RATING: 7/4/7/3/15 = 3.6

A clear dark red/brown colored beer, with a small beige head. The aroma of sweet fruits like apricot with malts and alcohol. The taste is fruity, like apricot/peach. It’s sticky with a lot of alcohol. The aftertaste is bitter with honey sweets and a full taste.

Purchased from Holiday Wine Cellar. This strong ale appears with very clear clarity as a mahogany color topped by a small layer of film. It doesn’t have a strong induced aroma for having such a strong and high alcohol percent, but it does allow some aroma of sweet malt and sugar to be sniffed out. In the flavor, a more noticeable alcohol presence is apparent as well as sugary sweet malt and moderate spiciness of yeast being utilized.

Bottle. Batch 3. Mahogony color with a medium tan head, very frothy, nice lacing. Aroma is very malty--caramel, and a lot of fruity, yeasty odors (raisin, plum). Flavor is strong caramel and very similar to aroma. Very string alcohol aftertaste. Great beer.

This is an amazing Grand Cru. It’s balanced is a bit swayed toward a sweetness and alcohol presence, but it is still excellent. It pours a dark amber color with a strong raisin and cany sugar aroma. It has The taste is very sweet with the same flavors present at swallow as are in the aroma. The alcohol presence warms as it goes down and makes up for the lack of head and carbonation.

Wow. Amber pour with a half-inch off-white head. Big malty nose with a spicy, floral character. Rich and complex flavors of dark fruits, sugar, honey, molasses and tons of other sweet things. Big alcohol bite. Great beer.

2008 Bottle, batch 6. Poured brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of prunes, fig, and grain. The flavor found prune, raisin, and chocolate malts. Medium body, sweet, and warming.

I had the 15.7% version. This baby is a monster in every sense of the word. The pour is deep ruby red with a tan head. The head dissipated rather quickly. The aroma is alcohol with some chocolate and sweet malt mixed in. The mouthfeel on this one is great--sticky and thick. Flavors are mostly of very sweet malt, dark fruits, chocolate, and alcohol. This beer reminded me of a port. It had that same sticky sweetness and alcohol flavor--which I personally enjoy. "
