Aroma of super sweet syrup, raisins, caramel, plums, and alcohol. Taste is way to sweet and cloying with strong notes of alcohol. I can almost feel granulated sugar in my mouth. Another disapointment from the “Demons of Ale Series”.

Flavor was like a barleywine, yeast dark fruits and hop finish to it. Took me about 45 minutes to drink this one. Avery misses on most of their beers. and for the price this one is way way off. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Semi clear, yet thick red brown with no head. Smell is alcohol and molasses and a touch of nail polish remover and a touch of pie crust too. Flavor is a touch boozy with more alcohol in the finish that I wanted. A hint syrup like but mainly because of the alcohol heaviness. Not horrid but a touch difficult to go down. brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2005 Enjoyed with friends on Thanksgiving for dessert (2005). 15.7% bottle, 2004. Ruby and chestnut colors standout clear in the glass. No head to speak of. Creamy, candy marshmallow aromas with honey and nuts. The taste greets you with some initial sweetness that moves to more complexities such as raisons, dates, and Belgian sugars. These enjoyable tastes are followed by an assault of harsh alcohol that reminded me of cheep sherry and some cardboard flavors. I also noted a hint of maple syrup. Body is initially creamy with a fairly heavy body. It’s hot though! Alcohol is very in your face. While this was worth a try, I’m a little saddened that I have another one in my cellar. Don’t know if I’ll drink or trade. Beardface (1036), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 24, 2009 12 oz bottle from Market of Choice, batch 4. Aroma was hefty on prunes, dates, molasses, caramel. Very sweet and appetizing smelling. Flavor was also very sweet, full of dark fruit, caramel, candy sugar and molasses. The booze was extremely well hidden, probably muted with the three years behind it. I could have drank another bottle of this, though that likely would have put an end to my night. Extremely tasty brew. Defreni (1030), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Pours a darker amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of lots of dark fruit, alcohol, molasses, and a slight hint of some citrus hops. Flavor is strong of raisons, molasses, and brown sugar. Very thick on the palate and finishes strong of alcohol. A delicious but strong brew. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2007 2005 version: Deep ruby pour with a sustaining tan head. Big dark fruit aroma - plums, cherries, raisons, apples - with caramel, honey and ether. Big, sweet body offers lots of caramel and toffee, before a rush of cane sugar overtakes the palate. Cherries, apples and peaches join the sweet onslaught, making this quite the dessert beer.
