Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

bottled. this had so much nasty, european canned strong lager sugar and metho character to it that it was hard to discern much else. i dunno, some raisins, honey, burnt toast, plenty of bitterness and amazing stickiness. big and dumb

Bottled in 2007. The aroma is huge - dark fruits, honey, spice, a few other things which are difficult to characterize. The color is bright orange ruby, and the bubbles are like champagne. The head is non-existent. Medium in body, very mild in carbonation. The flavors are raisin, dates, and definitely other things. It starts pretty sweet, and it ends not dry. Bottom line: Heavy alcohol, lots of sugars, lots of dark flavors; something like super barleywine. Killer.

Another winner from Avery. Pours with a small tan head that tops the dark brown body. Smells of maple and cinnamon make this very inviting. There is also a note of swiss cheese in the background. The flavor is very sweet, almost too much. There are notes of maple, caramel, peaches and the woodiness of apple core. A very good Belgian style. Thanks again hey_kevin.

Complex, aggressively hopped, strong, overpowering alcohol aroma. Very fruity (raisin, plum, date), meaty, resinous. Clear ruby brown with tan head that recedes to cover with thick ring. So sweet and sherry-like initially followed by roasted malts, drunken alcoholic fruit and lasting bitterness. Body is still and sticky, very full and syruppy. Huge alcohol warming. I can feel it right behind my eyes. An interesting substitute for an after dinner port or sherry perhaps. This is way over the top. Very complex but all flavours seem to be running in different directions. I think I like it. Bottle (enjoyed at Mondial RB Gathering 2004 with CapFlu, CaptainCougar, jercraigs, MartinT, OKBeer, Radek and Rastacouere).

Atlanta Gathering: Ruby and muddled brown hued with a small tan head and minimum lace. The aroma hints of pine, grapefruit, aromatic tobacco, caramel, and dusty yeast esters. The taste starts very surprising piney and sappy. There is a minor malt undertone and some caramel nature. The finish is woody and slightly smoky. A candy sweetness comes and goes, never a presence as in most of the genre. this medium to full bodied beer has a sticky and soft mouthfeel, warming towards the end. Hoppy for sure, unique and not within style. A solid beer but not top notch.

Bottle. Creamy light brown lasting head. Clear dark red body. Aroma of blackberries. A good deal of sweetness, a good deal of bitterness, large mouthfeel, you may taste the alcohol but not as unpleasant as expected because of the honey malt used I guess.

Had to try this myself to understand the hype of the 2006 Bottle. Aroma of caramel covered apples, maybe a hint of cherry pipe. Pours a ruby amber color, with a tan head. Sweet and malty with complex alcohol flavors. Full bodied, syrupy, and low carbonation. Not your typical lawnmower beer! Definitely a sipper with a good cigar malt beverage. I’m definitely putting four bottles aside and try it again in about ten years.

Bomber, Batch 2 (18.1%). Kinda scary when the first thing that comes to your mind from both the aroma and the flavor is "drunkening". Poured a transparent reddish-brown with a quickly-receding tan head.. left a film and a light ring. Aroma was hot with alcohol.. molasses, honey, more alcohol, sweet candi sugar, and floral notes in there, too. The flavor began with booz, finished with booz, and carried a heaping dose of booz across the middle... very sweet with too many different sugars.. molasses and honey stand out with grainy wheat notes, and darker fruits in there. Sharp alcohol pairs with a syrupy consistency to ooze across the palate and singe all of the taste buds. Dries out the back of the mouth. Too much focus on making a huge beer.. not very enjoyable and not enough people sitting here to help me finish the bomber.
