Commercial Description:
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

12oz bottle batch 4 2006. Cloudy dark brown in color with a ruby hue. Well coated lacing was left on the glass. Big nose of alcohol, candied fruits, molasses and brown sugar. Tasted much more like a Barley Wine opposed to a Belgian Strong Ale.

The 2005 vintage has been aging quietly in my cellar for the past few year. I was incorporating some new brews into my cellar recently and decided it was time to give this one a try. Pours a cloudy, nearly opaque, orange brown with a slim white head that faded fast. The nose is amazing, raisins, brown sugar, honey, sweet/sticky fruits, slight booze, caramel, orange. Flavor is very sweet, caramel, toffee, with citrus, some booze, and this delicious, shoe leather like earthiness. Thick and sticky in the mouth on the finish. I wish I had a case of this. Delicious and well aged. Probably peaking.

2006 bottle. Poured red-brown with a thin off-white head. It had a candy sweet aroma. I couldn’t quite say I smelt alcohol but when I smelled the beer, I could feel the alcohol rising up into my eyeballs. It was cloudy with light carbonation. Had a sticky mouthfeel with all candy sweetness and also maybe some brown sugar. There was a slight alcohol burn in the throat but not really in the mouth until it warms up a bit. The only thing I can rally think to compare it to would be a much sweeter Samichlaus, which is on of my favorites. I think I will get another bottle to age.

Deep auburn beer with a nice, white head. It has a fruity aroma, laced with alcohol. The first taste is like nothing I can describe. After the first couple of sips, the spicy and raisin aspects of the beer become more pronounced. Much less alcohol heat than I would have expected from a 14.6% beer. A wonderful beer to share with a friend (or more than one depending on the size of the bottle).

Batch 2. Thanks to BillVanE on getting this one. Not the same as I first remembered but great anyway. Aroma had lots of malt and sweetness. Flavor is overpowered to a degree by the hotness of the alcohol. I love this beer, its like sipping on a glass of whiskey.

#6 bottle, crazy lovely aroma that is very barleywine esque. I was still smelling the bottle after I finished it. The aroma has candy sugar, chocolate and molasses notes. This beer is a beast, the taste is similar to the aroma with sweet malt notes as well but it hits you in the face with the alcohol. I really enjoyed this beer but if it had a little less alcohol it would be heavenly.

2005 Bottle thanks to Cletus...Pours chestnut brown with light tan head...Aroma is very sweet with honey, and raisins...The Flavors have blended very well with the 4+ years this bottle has on it. Starts off sweet end finishes with a burnt sugar flavor. No alcohol burn seeing how this a 15% beer. Thick with low to medium carbonation. Great beer.
