hotstuff (3038), Indiana, USA May 10, 2004 What a beer that thedm picked out for my #1000! Oh my God! Wow! A favorite beer style of mine along with a high ABV to boot! Oh my God! Wow! Bottled in 2004. 22oz bottle. Poured a small sized tan head with fine-small sized bubbles that mostly dissipated. The body was carbonated, transparent and a ruby hue. Beautiful! The aroma was just as beautiful...malty, caramel, sweet, spicy notes, raisins, and alcohol. The flavor was extremely to my liking since I so much enjoy high ABV beers. It was sweet tasting, alcohol, and cherries. The mouthfeel was tingly and it had an alcohol burn in the back of the throat. The lacing was sparse. Definitely a sipping beer. Hoping to get another bottle of this to age. This is definitely a kick-ass beer!! Party on!!
tomthompson89 (1101), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 18, 2008 Wow i liked that one. 2006 version. kinda a deep brown color, nice foam, dried fruits, alcohol and cough medicine nose. pretty sweet flavor at first with again dried fruits berries and almost like Vanilla extract flavor but then the alcohol kicks in when it warms, really nice really nice mjg74 (1763), La Mesa, California, USA Aug 15, 2008 Bottle (batch 6, 2008) from BevMo, La Mesa. Deep amber in color. Huge dark fruit aroma. Some figs and alcohol with some spices. Strong flavors of raisin and toboacco. Some prune as well. A little hop bitterness. Quite the sipper. Light alcohol tastes, especially considering the strength. BeerGestapo (297), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2008 (USA) Bottled in 2007, Pours a dark amber color with a small dissipating white head. There is a strong molasses aroma with caramel and raisins. The taste is of roasted malts, sweet honey, hops, dark fruit, and of course alcohol. The 16.42 % might put you down for the count if you drink this strong ale to fast.....lol. douglas88 (708), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 11, 2008 Bottle thanks to a trade some time back. 2006 vintage. Pours a very nice dark amber body with a thick light beige head. The aroma is very sweet; tons of caramel, molasses, malts, candied plums, and a ton of brown sugar. The taste is also quite sweet, marmalade, brown sugar, cotton candy, plum and raisins, toasted malt, a touch of hops come through. Quite a lot of flavor. The sugars really stick out. Too sweet for me, but nice. Not really that hot, but the alcohol shows. Hophead22 (134), Redlands, California, USA Aug 10, 2008 12oz-batch 6. Beautiful dark amber color, small white head. Malt bomb, raisiny as well, lots of sugar. Big warming alcohol, kind of like a fruty liqour going down and coating the back of your throat, wow. This is the kind of stuff you look for, pretty damn good.
