TikiE (358), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Feb 21, 2008 Dank! Poured a beautiful blackish ruby color with a light laced head. Smells of sweet molasses and cofee, and tastes of chocolate mocha with a bite of hops. Loved every sip of this beer!
taalhiker (145), Dayton, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2008 From bottle. Poured black with chocolate and caramel aromas. Full bodied with heavy dark chocolate, currants and spice. Nice long smooth finish considering the high alcohol content. CaryTheDude (436), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Nov 19, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Quite delicious. Dark fruits and bitterness. And yum. A little watery, but still definitely worth trying. Would definitely crush again. Glouglouburp (2077), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 19, 2008 In short: A brutal intensely alcoholised, molasses/syrupy impy stout. Almost acceptable.
How: Bottle 22oz, 2006 vintage drank when 1+ year old
The look: Black body topped by a little beige ring of foam
In long: Nose of molasses and alcohol fumes. Taste is very one dimensional. This is in-your face alcohol and molasses with some black liquorice. Smooth carbonation. Too sweet and syrupy to even feel roasted. Some earthy tobacco in the finish. Some black chocolate comes out as the beer warms up and almost saves the day, almost. So brutal and nasty that this is really Avery Ivan The Terrible Imperial Stout. KYackley (17), , Minnesota, USA Nov 3, 2008 Dark as they come, aroma was quite pleasing with a complex toffee/chocolate aroma. The flavor was rather pleasing and displayed hints of toffee, a lot of chocolate, but also a dash of alcohol (likely due to the high content 12.2) Very full bodied and creamy. Overall I would enjoy this brew again on preferably a cold winter night doubleo (954), San Diego, California, USA Nov 1, 2008 On-tap at Stone. Pours dark brown with a thin, light brown head, leaves spider web lace. Smells deep and dark fruity, sweet and ripe. Sweet malty, very nice. Tastes very dark and sweet ripe fruity. Darker than raisins or plums. Ahh, it’s fruity and chocolatey. Very tasty. Full body, good carbonation.
