Ungstrup (11075), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 24, 2004 An orange-amber beer with a huge orange head. The aroma is malty with notes of caramel as well as hints of hops. The flavor is dominated by alcohol, that runs over the tongue, but also has notes of hops and caramel. omhper (10438), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 4, 2005 Bottled, thanks JCW! Pale nut brown. Orangey hop aroma. Sweet with fairly soft mouthfeel. Crystal malt flavours alongside tangerine and coffee, as well as strong notes of alcohol. Sweet and almost sticky. Pretty good beer, but about as far away from an oktoberfest as you can come when talking about lagers. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 24, 2006 (Bottle 65 cl) Clear amber golden with a creamy, off-white head. Fat aroma of caramel malt and aroma hops. Very full-bodied - looks thick as oil when poured. Extremely solid and full malt base with almost sherry-like notes. The alcohol gets quite prominent in the finish. But lovely indeed. 221206 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 23, 2005 Hazy medium amber colour. Complex whole grain malt notes with toast and light caramel. Complex malt, with lots of earthiness and a light flowery hop note. Drinks very nicely for a beer of its size. WIth the marzeny malt complexity and drinkability wrapped in a large format, they’ve nailed the concept and I quite like it. yespr (6259), Copenhagen O, Denmark Apr 1, 2008 22 fl oz bottle, thanks to BelJohansen. Pours hazy orange with a lacing white head. Light woody and spiced aroma. Mild thyme note. Woody and spiced flavour. Dry woody and more solid spiced flavour following. Hoppy flavour into the finish. Nice but yet another terrible US interpretation of a German style beer.
