Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Light pour for a quad, nothing jumps out to give it character, but good warming alcohol effect in the end.

Poured a nice peach color. Smells of tropical fruits, sugar and spice. Had nice sweet flavors of mango, pineapple, peach, mixed with Belgian yeast flavors and spice. A bit thick, and not too carbonated. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours a light head with a golden amber body. Smells of brown sugar and some spice. Tastes of brown sugar and some bread notes. I like the balance.

Pours cloudy honey color. Aroma of grape juice and bread. Initial taste of sweet bread and alcohol (light). Finish is medium full. Quite a tasty beverage.

Bomber. Dark yellow pour, with a mystery smell.Oranges, citrus and apple sceants show through. Rather sweet and uneventful. Low carbonation. Not the best Ive had.

22oz bottle. Brightly clear amber with a fleeting white head and lasting foam. Doesn’t look much like a quad, but is nice regardless. Fruity, sugary aroma with some blackberry, apple, and a touch of pool water. Sweet and sugary with light apple and dried papaya notes and some light alcohol burn. Finishes sweet. Thin for style body with weak carbonation. Overall, a sweet amber ale with some light fruity touches. Decent, but not a god quad

It pours a dark amber color; pretty hazy. Not very much of a head; what is there is off-white and fizzy, but it was gone after a few seconds. This looks nothing like any quad that I have ever had before. The aroma is a strong malty brown sugar and molasses. Little bit of chocolate and alcohol as well. Strong warming alcohol in the flavor. Some caramel flavors, maybe a little vanilla. Actually has a lot of hop flavor without too much of the bitterness. Some plum and a little citrus as well. Really more like an underhopped Double IPA. A good rich body that leaves some lingering sweetness. Decent beer, but lacks something for the style.
