Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Bottle at Fins ... Thanks to Fin for a great weekend and some Real intersting beers ... Nice deep copper ... very vineous ... little plums and yeast in nose ... quite deep malty character ... again vine fruits and a lot of yeast and quite a lot of alcohol showing.

initially looks like a dubbel with its toffee clean color and full yet narrow abbey aroma. sugary sweet, warming alcohol finish in the mouth. there’s subtle dried fig and rose petal but everything is washed away from the caramely sugary alcohol notes that linger from the previous sip and continue to intensify. Tasty and consistent, sessionable and fun to drink, but at this price I want to sip and savor.

Bomber! Pours dark copper with only a white ring for head. Caramel, sweet malt and hard sugar candy in the aroma. Very sweet initial taste lasts quite awhile. Alot of sugar present in the flavor. Candy, caramel and molasses. Has only a slight warming feeling.

Picked this up in cafe/shop in Ribe, Denmark consumed at home with Craig, Stella and Loz 26-09-08 Pours mid amber with an off white head. This beer is quite rich and creamy in the mouth and very flavouful. The alcohol is quite warming but in no way harsh. There is a little bit of spiritiness on the nose, some almond and also some light spiciness, pretty good.

Clear reddish ale with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Malty amber, caramel aroma. Light carbonation, dark fruity esters of plums and alcohol. Nutty and very sweet.

22 oz, bottle. Pours a small head, with good laciing, nice reddish copper color....nose has a sweet apple smell, rather mild....tastes of sweetness, alcohol, with minimal hop bitterness at the end, fruit flavors were not as pronounced as expected....mouth feel adequate. I think it is somewhat unbalanced, with too much simple carbs in the brew.

Nice beer, this reminded me of a barley wine but with more carbonation and a belgian yeast twist. It looks like one. Hints of caramel and molasses come through in the taste.

Pours a golden yellow; with wihite lacy head. The nose is yeasty, fruity, and posibly light notes of bubble gum. It comes across the palate with a rather light taste of fruit and some yeast. With a very faint after taste.
