Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Pours with a quickly dissapearing, off-white head covering a copper body. Aroma is of spices, sugar, banana and cherries. Tastes of anice, spices, deep quad with possibly some coriander and banana. Mouthfeel is a bit too fizzy.

22 oz bottle. Mean looking dude on that bottle! Pours brilliant copper with med/low very light tan head. Some Belgian yeast character in the nose (brit). Sweet with some mild alcohol warming and bitterness in the taste. Fairly well balanced with unexpected low maltiness. A decent beer, but might benefit from some aging.

Poured a clear copper color with almost no head. A nice sweet aroma with mainly brown sugar notes too it. Flavor was initially sweet but finished with a bready-alcohol mix. Carbonation was low, body seemed thin for this style.

Pours a copper color with a smallish short lived head. Aroma is alcohol, sugar, and fruit. Flavors in this beer are big and complex, like the bottle. There is plenty of sugar, fruit, caramel, spice, and alcohol. Feels slick and slightly oily and is just a bit too clean. A wonderful beer!

Bottle. Pours a opaque reddish-caramel color, with a wisp of wet head. Sticky sheets of lacing. Raisin, caramel, dough, fig, melon...could be more assertive though. Raisin in the flavor, and licorice, molasses, caramel, banana, brown sugar, peach. Lots of stuff here, nice. Medium-bodied, and drinkable despite the ABV. Nice clean finish. Well-balanced. This is good.

sweet candy dark fruit aroma. pours a pale copper, slightly cloudy. very small white head. starts out intensely sweet and malty, then gets dry and a little spicy. the finish is neverending, which is strange for how thin it feels. Nice and complex, but overpoweringly sweet
