dmac (1418), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Mar 21, 2008 22 oz bomber purchased at Spirits RB. Pours a crisp clear burnt rust color wih a large white fluffy head that slowly recedes and leaves some lace on the glass. Aroma of yeast, candi sugar and some bread. Palate is on the thin side with a watery feel and average carbonation. Grainy flaovr with lots of bread, slight sweetness from the sugars, yeast, dough and fruit rind. Nice beer I just wish I had the patience to age it but alas I didn’t. travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 21, 2008 Reddish in color with a good white head. Aromas is sweet with the fruitness and caramel coming through. Taste is sweet. Body has been lightened somewhat for the strenght of the beer. Not bad. McCracken (14), San Francisco, California, USA Mar 19, 2008 Copper to dark amber with a thin off-white head. A slightly vegetal note after the first pour and sniff. Developed into a moderately intense malty and spice backbone. Raisin, black pepper and black cherry notes. Slight resiny earthy hop aroma with a thin aromatic layer of anise candy. Mouthfeel is warming but not the rocket-fuel I imagined it would be. Medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. Very similar to a doulbed dubbel (hence the quadrupel?) and could use some age to balance out the profile...though too much age might build up too much vegetal character. Lots of specialty malt is evident with a particular emphasis on special b. A very fine beer, but a little too sweet of a finish for my taste. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 19, 2008 Orange-amber with creamy, off-white head / Complex, floral, winey nose / Full body with big malts but lightening with a good, hoppy, long finish / Flavors of violets, banana, orange, candied sugar, coriander, and oak / Nicely balanced, almost delicate, for such a big ale. rmussman (905), California, USA Mar 16, 2008 A very well crafted brew. Dont understand how low the rating is. It is relatively dark and a little flat for a normal Quad however the brew is still very well prepared and has great malty goodness. killjoy966 (215), Washington, USA Mar 15, 2008 Pours out almost orange. Great for anyone that likes their alcohol. Tastes pleasant enough with malty sticky aftertaste. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Mar 15, 2008 1 pt 6 fl oz bottle. Pours slight hazy dark orange with a dense light orange head. Aroma solid pine hoppy with a light fruity note. The flavour starts with the same notes and goes into a sweet sugarish caramel malt flavour first before a more fruity and belgian yeast spiced flavour takes overs. Shows a mild woody note along the way. Hops reappear before the finish and provide a lifting feel to the dense abt flavours. Hoppy and dry towards woody finish. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA Mar 14, 2008 Decent. Sweet and malty. Apples, cherries, spices and figs/plums. Warming, but enjoyable.
