Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Pours out almost orange. Great for anyone that likes their alcohol. Tastes pleasant enough with malty sticky aftertaste.

1 pt 6 fl oz bottle. Pours slight hazy dark orange with a dense light orange head. Aroma solid pine hoppy with a light fruity note. The flavour starts with the same notes and goes into a sweet sugarish caramel malt flavour first before a more fruity and belgian yeast spiced flavour takes overs. Shows a mild woody note along the way. Hops reappear before the finish and provide a lifting feel to the dense abt flavours. Hoppy and dry towards woody finish.

Pours a dark burgundy color with a foamy tan head. Spicy and fruity aroma with a nice touch of maltiness. Very quaffable for such a high ABV. Spicy and malty yet sweet with hints of candi sugar, cherries and dark fruit.

A brown bomber bottle poured into Chimay goblet. Pours a beautiful amber with a nice quick carbonation leaving a creamy white head that dissipates to a thin lace layering the beer. A light sweet smelling brew that hides it’s alcohol content from the nose: hints of fruit, banana and melon. This beer has a lot of flavor, all at once. It’s a bit overwhelming at first, but settles down as you drink it. The lack of alcohol in the smell is made up for on the palate. It finishes dry. Fruity tasting, though not banana and melon; more of a berry medley, which is mixed nicely with the sugars and malts common to quads. Lighter than I would have expected, so medium bod, but a great beer for the price. One bomber is more than enough for a sitting.

22oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Poured a glowing deep ruby color with a small off white head. Light lacing was left on the glass. Nose of sweet cherries and other dark fruits. Flavor was pretty sweet with some caramel malts and an alcoholic finish.

Pours clear orange amber with an off white head. Aromas of candy sugar, malts and yeast. Flavor starts sweet and finishes dry with hints of cherries. Smooth mouthfeel with soft cabonation. The 10% alcohol is definately noticeable. I’ve had many quads that were much better.
