Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Bottle from Canals. Pours a thin orange amber with a very thin white head. Aroma is a mild yeasty, fruit and sweet note. The taste is pretty much the same except strong and not mild. The finish is cherry. It’s good. Definitely drinkable.

Fruity caramel nose. Brilliantly clear, deep amber/red thin head. Fruity attack of battered rum sweetness, nice bitterness bite on the back end. Full bodied, crisp tight bubbles, long smooth finish with a nice late alcohol burn. Perhaps more delicate Belgian Quadruples out there, but an excellent non-Belgian version. Another winner from Avery!

Thanks for this very special share, TikiE. Poures a dark haze of red. Light head with a decent lacing. Tastes of darksweet fruit and small amounts of hops. Alcohol is very well hidden. Pretty good, but have had better.

Strong belgian ale! Sweet aroma that pours a hazy gold color with shown sediment. The taste is of ripe plums...or cherries, but very complex!

Had on tap at Brews. Pour is a dark copper with an almost ruby haze. Aroma was sweet plums and molases. Taste was seriously, all over the board. This is a pretty complex quad. Malts, brown sugar, candy, raisins, fruits, cinnamon, cloves, and a light hop finish. Its confusing, but really quite good and very drinkable. Alcohol was incredibly well hidden.

Pours a light gold in color with some ruby highlights. No head appears on the pour. Smell is belgian candy sugar and some delicious dark fruits in plenty. Taste is the same in sugar and dark fruits. Mouthfell is full and creamy and easy drinking. Not a world class quad, but $4.99 a bomber makes it an occasional purchase.

An amber quad with low carb and diminutive head. Aroma is actually very fresh for a quad with an almost clean touch to the dried fruit esters and the cara and sugar noters. The flavour is complex but delicate. A fine texture of dried fruits, some spicyness (mostly vague notes of orange and some cloves) and a sexy, nearly dry finish. A fine beer

The color was dark peach. The head was thin, fizzy, and white. The aroma was sweet malt, alcohol, and hops. The flavor was sweet malt, alcohol, strong hops, and spice. The palate was thick. The finish was warm.
