WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jan 11, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a fairly clear reddish-amber with a nice but fleeting off-white head. Aroma is sweet and rich, with strong notes of honey, molasses, and hops along with some slight hints of dark fruit. Taste is uncharacteristically light for the style, with tastes of spice and both sugary and fruity sweetness giving way to a strong hoppy and somewhat boozy bite to finish things off. Not quite as rich and full as I usually would associate with a quadrupel, but still a drinkable and intriguing beer. Elizavyeta (110), Minnesota, USA Jan 11, 2008 Fantastically crimson with a cloudy pour and wispy head. Its aromas are not unlike strawberry, wheat, and honey.
The actual flavor of this beer is rather tart with piquant, toasty notes that linger.
The Reverend would pair nicely with apples and a younger raw milk gouda to offset the sweetness. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Jan 10, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a garnet hue with a small head that fizzed out quickly. Strong alcohol aroma along with caramel and spices. Malty sweetness and alcohol flavors dominate the palate with little if any hop presence. A so-so mouthfeel is syrupy sweet.
This beer has a raw , unrefined character. The syrupy sweetness and strong alcohol taste dominate this potentially excellent brew. I’m cellaring a couple bottles in hopes of discovering a diamond in the rough.

craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Jan 5, 2008 bomber. very solid belgian style beer from one of my favorite breweries - avery. Really, they do not disappoint. This quadrupel style pours a deep red color with a tiny bit of head. Very sweet, sugary, molasses aroma coming off the glass. Wonderfully complex on the palate with spiciness on the front of the tongue, rich fruit tones, and a well balanced finish that leaves you wanting more. I think this one deserves a higher overall rating.... I give it an A. STEPHENDR (478), California, USA Jan 5, 2008 22 oz. glass bottle- color of dark honey, with a frothy off white colored head - nose of bright sour cherries, and some malts – taste of ginger, cloves, dark fruit mango, and anis- body is medium, and with medium carbonation – aftertaste of Dark cherries, yeast, gummy, and lingering
Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Dec 31, 2007 Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN from a 22-oz bomber. Pours a semi-hazy cola brown brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of dark fruity caramel malt, some raisins, figs, dark pitted fruit and a touch of yeast. Taste is smooth, creamy, medium bodied, with some carbonation and flavors of dark roasted malt, Belgian yeast, candi sugar, and a touch of raisins. Finish is slightly metallic from the high alcohol with a dark fruit and yeast aftertaste. This is one decent winter warmer. peter4928 (2), Astoria, New York, USA does not count Dec 27, 2007 The beer is very tasty, i had it in a 1pint 6fl OZ bottle. It was a gift, and I love belgian beers. I am not sure what quadrupel ale means but it is very very tasty. My favorite beers are hoegarden and guiness. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 26, 2007 650 ml. Orange-copper with a medium-sized head that lasts well. Caramel, spicy yeast, bubblegum and alcohol in the aroma. Caramel, alcohol, fruity-bubblegum esters, spicy bread yeast and more alcohol in the flavor. Smooth, medium-heavy palate has a lot of carbonation, and finishes dry. Fairly complex flavors, but too much alcohol and yeast for me.
