thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Dec 26, 2007 Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours a lightly hazy deep orange with a small, creamy off white head on top. Aroma is complex with a vinious streak to it. Lots of fruits , rather ripe, some black currants, some oranges, some apples. All of it on a background of caramelly biscuit malts. Mouthfeel is rather oily and very full. Flavour is not as complex as expected from the aroma. The alcohol is quite present. The fruitiness prevails at first with a clear definition of raisins and apples. The malty meatiness is sadly a bit too subdued, only appearing in the aftertaste, where biscuit surely got some bite. This is a good Quad, but only good... compared to all the other Quads (from Belgium), this is nothing... VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA Dec 23, 2007 Bomber - Poured a dark hazy amber-orange in color with a small white head that faded to a thin rim around the top of th beer. Aroma is malty and sweet with hints of spicy malts and lots of Belgian yeast. Flavor is also sweet with plenty of brown sugar, dark fruits... figs and dates and cherries. Finishes very sweet. Beerlando (2284), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 21, 2007 Aged about 8 months. This brew pours a slightly hazy, dark cola brown body with a small, fluffy, off-white head. Minimal, spotty lacing adorns the glass. The aroma is very sweet, with the primary components being candied sugar, caramel, figs, raisons, and dates. One whiff and you know this one’s going to be really sweet, and the flavor proves this theory. Candied sugar dominates the palate, and it is soon accompanied by various sweet, malty overtones. Golden raisons play a huge role, with figs and dates also present. Medium-full bodied and somewhat sticky. Finishes short and sweet. Pretty solid brew, but it takes on the role of a sugary dessert more so than a deep, complex quad. troyc (1173), Lubbock, Texas, USA Dec 21, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a hazy amber color with a small white head. Notes of yeast, fruit and light spice in the aroma. Taste includes quite a bit in the way of fermented fruits, candy sugar, and molasses. Alcoholic notes were rather harsh at times, especially towards the finish. Average mouthfeel and palate. Good, but could have been better. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Dec 19, 2007 Bright malty and fruit aroma. Some roasted oaken qualities. Flavor is nicely roasted malt, wood, some cherry chocolate, mild vanilla. Mild dried fruits. Fairly solid on the tongue. Alcohol is not overtly present. Colors are brownish orange and very transparent. Not a bad beer overall. beerking99 (199), USA Dec 19, 2007 Pours medium amber, with a golden shine. What little head there is fades almost immediately. Aroma is strong alcohol, perhaps some fusels, and lots of fruity esters, with a little malt. Flavor is also alcohol up front, followed immediately by sweet malt and some hints of hops. Alcohol dries out the finish quite a bit, but not offensively so. A strong beer that tastes even more so, yet in a good way. A little harsh, which I don’t remember before. Wonder if it has changed. Perhaps they are fermenting it warmer to speed production? Taverner (827), San Ramon, California, USA Dec 16, 2007 You can taste the tannins in this! Strong malty and hoppy flavors, balanced by the tannins in whatever they aged this in. As far as American Belgians go, this is one of the best! ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Dec 13, 2007 Updated: Mar 14, 2008Wasn’t too enthused about this. Bottle from BevMo. Not a very round flavor, more hoppy than fruity - kind of a flat quad.
