alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 24, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with no head. Aroma of molasses, malt and fruit. Taste-fruit-cherries, malts, molasses with spices. Enjoyit (1697), Vadum, Denmark Oct 21, 2007 Reddish brown of color with a beige head. An aroma of caramel, spice and toffee. A flavor of malt, sweets, spice and a dry finish. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Oct 20, 2007 Very nice sugary sweetness to it. Like toffee and caramel. Easy to drink, alcohol extremely well hidden. Not much bitterness, which I was thankful for. Very smooth and tasty. I enjoyed very much, will get again. andyhite (290), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Oct 17, 2007 bomber - pours pure amber, plus 2 shades darker. aromas - fruit (molasses, syrup, woodiness), but also has a ripe fruit component that follows through the flavor on into the finish. the flavors are of ripe, ripe fruits. plums, dates, raisins, dark berries. also, mellow spices hit the finish. kickin beer. highly recommended, two thumbs up, drinability is high, and the depth of character is prevelant. Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2007 22 oz. bottle-This is my first Belgian Quad. I like it. Sort of like the Belgian answer to a doppelbock (even though brewed in America). Complex, fruity, spicy, and potent, this beer delivers in all areas. The hops are understated to let the malt and candi sugar through, but balance the beer quite nicely. Maybe a bit too much sugar though, as the alcohol comes to the forefront the more you drink. Still, wonderful lacing the whole beer through for 10% alcohol. A decent brew.( In view of Rheinheitsgabot, I think the use of candi sugar is the real reason the Germans invaded Belgium!!) smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA Oct 16, 2007 light amber head, malty, pretty sweet, almonds and spicy. Pretty tasty - pretty good as usual from Avery mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 14, 2007 After much deliberation, and doing a beer v. money distribution graph in my head, I decided to give this a try, despite my well-known despisement for variations for this type of beer. Poured dark amber, semi-transparent, carbonation very noticeable, formed a nice lacing head. Aroma of alcohol, fruit notes, and some hops; not bad. Hits the mouth with medium malt body and heavy alcohol note, almost slightly unbearable, but noticed some fruit note on the finish. The reverend tried to convert me, but if the priced dropped, I would be a believer all the time. A good beer regardless. DrAvery (10), Aloha, Oregon, USA Oct 12, 2007 This is the worst tasting substance (much less beer) that I have ever tasted. I passed this around a roomful of beer lovers, and not one could bear the flavor. Nice label, awful beer
