uoffgator (35), Miami, Florida, USA Oct 11, 2007 The Commercial Description is to the tooth accurate. Little light for a Quad, color wasn’t all there (ive seen Ambers darker than this) but the head was acceptable for a Quad. Aroma was disappointing and defenatley lacks that "Belgian" spirit. drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Oct 6, 2007 A light ale. Subtle Belgian taste. Like other Avery brews, a nice beer. It’s not Belgian, so I shouldn’t compare. It does, however, capture some of that taste. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA Oct 6, 2007 Updated: Feb 5, 2008Amber in color. Toffee, caramel and light fruit aroma. Sweet and smooth. Sugar filled with not much hint of alcohol.
Just had this on tap again and it was not as good as I remember. fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 26, 2007 Nice malty base. The alcohol is quite evident. Dark orange with a tan head. Not really and hop character. ElGaucho56 (386), USA Sep 23, 2007 sort of like a belgian barleywine. Massive malt aroma of toffee, bubblegum, alcohol, smooth and very rich on the palate, strong presence of candi sugar, tiny hop bitterness to complement the massive candi rush. Not a bad example of the style, not particularly strong however. Kodos (200), USA Sep 20, 2007 Pours a nice amber color with a large orange head. Aroma is sweet with nuts and caramel. More sweet in the flavor, really malty with caramel and some spiciness and a touch of alcohol. Reminds me of a barley wine. Great offering by Avery FlagstoneHill (211), Erie, Colorado, USA Sep 18, 2007 22oz bomber. Med Amber, clear w/ light tan head that lasts. .. Malty, grains, yeasty, bubblegum. Not much hops in the aroma. .. Complex flavors - Malty with spicy overtones. Bitter in the finish. .. Medium body with medium carbonation. .. WOW - very tasty, wonderfully malty. RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Sep 16, 2007 Had this beer 5/20/2007. Aroma is a faint caramel malt scent. Color is a nice brown with a hint of amber. Carbonation is good with a thin but tight head. Taste is rich and sweet. Stating with a medium body it goes down easy. Finish comes on sweet with a malty caramel taste and very light hop flavor and bitterness. On the tail end there is a feel of alcohol that leaves you warm. I don’t know what it is but something is missing, it is way to clean and smooth. There is no fruity yeast taste like you find in a good Belgian Ale. They say they use an authentic Belgian yeast but it doesn’t Show in the end, I think they may over filter it.
