Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Aug 15, 2007 Updated: Sep 13, 2007Okay, a quad...this one poured light colored with decent head. No complexity at all and just too darned sweet...REALLY sweet and artificial tasting. Sugar and caramel. That’s all. I read a forum thread on how great Avery beers were...leave this one alone. If you want a quad, there are NUMEROUS better offerings out there...although the slogan "Created by God. Feared by Satan. Love by all." was kinda cool, I was kinda disturbed by the label...but maybe that’s me. hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Aug 12, 2007 From a 22 oz bottle purchased in West Springfield. MA this poured a rich amber color with a moderate off-white head and nice rings of lacing. Nose is caramel malts and floral hops with a hint of banana. Mouthfeel rich and creamy. Flavor was of malts and hops, with fruits in the background. Somewhat on the sweet side. It hides the alcohol quite well. Very nice brew. scottmc (167), Lakewood, Colorado, USA Aug 6, 2007 Tap. At the 14th Avery Anniversary party. A mild gold in color with a very light hop aroma and a faint malty aroma overpowering the hops. A dry finish. Wow a final beer here at the lawn outside the Valby temple. Voluminous amounts of ingredients such as spices, alcohol, dried fruit, yeast, sherry and much more makes this a great final beer for that wonderful day! djd07 (724), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 31, 2007 Bottle as shown. Pours an amber color with a medium white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a very spicy fruit with some malt. The taste is sweet and does not hide the alcohol well but still an all around good brew. Another good beer from Avery. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Jul 31, 2007 Bottle. This is a young batch. Big malty nose, with caramel and cherry and figs. Deep amber pour with a large foamy, tiny-bubbled beige head and medium-strong carbonation coming right up the chute. Big malty taste with a prominent alcohol component. Dries out toward the end, aftertaste is somewhat caramellous. Fullish body, a bit too boozy. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA Jul 27, 2007 On tap @ Porter’s Pub, UCSD. Deep red brown without much head. Sweetish aroma, not too strong. Flavor was swee, cadni sugar with soem dark fruitness. A bit of alcohol too. A verry drinkable brew, but lacks the depth and complexity of real belgians quads. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA Jul 26, 2007 Bottle, pours a clear red color, with a quickly dissapating white head. Aroma, not really one to mention, maybe just a slight banana. Taste is slightly fruity, a touch of sourness, alcohol. I was suprissed by how light the palate was. Hmm really not a whole lot going on with this brew. I really let this one sit for awhile too hoping it would open up as it warmed but no not really. Consider it a tasty malt liquor and you would be happy.
