Malty with some alchohol. Would age great. Smooth mouthfeel. Slight bitter hoppyness. Some fruityness (maybe raisin?). Actually I wouldn’t age it because the alcohol fits the drink. Adds a spicy kick to it. The aftertastes makes my tongue tingle slightly. JAF737300 (792), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 3, 2007 This beer pors almost deep orange. It shows notes of fruits, citrus and sugars. The mouthfeel really pushes the balance of the beer as even with the high alcohol content you do not seem to get a great deal of heat. MrBendo (1041), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2007 Bottle. Pours red/orange with a large head. Fair lacing and retention. Aroma is belgian yeast and toffee. As others have said, its way sweet for the style. Brown sugar and toffee with a bit of banana and some wood. Alcohol is well covered, I’m sure by the sweetness. The problem with the Avery "The" series (Czar, Reverend, Majaraja, Kaiser), is it’s hard to remember which ones you’ve had. Now that I’ve finally had the Reverend, I’ve had them all, so I don’t need to worry about it. Clearly underrated, there appears to be a bias against Avery for some reason. This is clearly one of the top 10-15 brewers in the country. Relatively faint aroma with some Belgian qualities. Slightly hazy copper body. Large yellowish, off-white head. Beautiful copper with lots of visible carbonation. Excellent lace. Very sweet and strong. Similar to New Glarus Unplugged Belgian Quad. This has a little more hop in the finish and is better than the NG. Excellent. beachbum25 (783), Powellville, Maryland, USA

Crisp, clean floral hopped Belgian flavor w/traces of cane sugar, yeast, spices, & orange peel. Very enjoyable, alcohol is well hidden. Had some carbonation to it; good lacing. Long full finish,. cking (1019), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2007 Rated 10/26/06: Enjoyable beer, right in line with most Belgian traits but it’s tough to convince myself that this is a true quadrupel. Medium copper pour huge head and nice lacing. Inviting aroma sugary with that familiar Belgian yeast strain. Sharp and biting on the tongue, the finish is strong with a huge alcohol burn, it’s alright. Flavor is also strong and very solid. Big candy sweetness mixed in with a good showing of crisp hops. Some yeasty earthiness backed up with a fruity hint. Overall a decent sipper. mlist55 (210), media, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 25, 2007 Bottle pours a crystal clear copper with no head and a lace ring. The aroma is fresh bread, candy sugar, and spice. The flavor is drier than I thought it would be, peppery, spicy, currants, and alcohol. The palate is heavy. kreepindeth (405), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
