Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Orange amber with thick white head. Malty spicy and yeasty. Full fruity malty body. Smooth creamy filling body with hop undertones. Sugary sweet and easy warmth.

From the white elephant exchange at the MKE gathering. Aroma of grapes, caramel, vinous and sweet. A nice combination of dried fruit, alcohol and caramel. Amber-copper in color, very clear and a medium white head. Warming alcohol, sweet caramel with a burnt, toasted-wheat flavor. Some Belgian yeast character in the form of esters and a strong alcohol bite in the finish. Reminds me of a really, really strong dunkelweizen. Medium-light body, slightly creamy texture. Just a bit too boozy.

Green apple and slightly sour aroma. Apple, pear, malt, and alcohol dominate the flavor with a honey flavored finish.

22 oz bottle. Poured a clear copper color. Head was two fingers high and off white with good retention and lacing. Aroma was of fresh malty cereal grain, clove, accented by a hint of banana and caramel. Sweet on the tongue and full bodied. Lots of different flavors to pick out. Cotton candy, clove, cherry schnapps, and more clove. Pretty tasty.

Avery for sure... Lots of caramel. Not terribly refreshing, but very nice feel on the palate.

Poured orange brown with diminishing off white head. Bready aroma with hint of hops and yeast. Great flavor. Another winner from Avery.

My first experience with this beer - I was already drunk. Aroma was rich with raisin, pumpkin pie, and carmel apples. It poured like liquid beer candy, and tasted like it. It was sweet and frothy, and very good. This beer kicked my ass, and I paid for it. The second time I tried it, I was disappointed. The pumpkin pie aroma and flavor were replaced with bitterness and it became very one dimensional. I know for a fact that the second time I purchased this beer, I had gotten older pints. However, it still kicked my ass.
