SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 2, 2007 Bottle: This beer is not as good as I remember it. I used to love it. It doesnt taste as rich as i seem to remember. Its a light amber in color and medium to light body. Fruit and malt aroma is good. The flavor has fruity esters as well as plenty of phenolics and spicy ester character. The alcohol is pretty subtle considering the body of the beer. This is just sightly more malty than a good triple. If this used some more dark crystal malts I would really enjoy it more. If your a fan of triples though, you will probaby really enjoy this. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA Apr 2, 2007 sampled at avery: reddish brown pour with a tan head. nose of sweet fruit and belgian yeast. flavors push the same rock candy sweetness typical for the style, had this right after the ellies what a differnece...so much more sugar here. some subtle hints of alcohol in the backbone. there was a dry hopped version with centennial hops that was fricken great...huge grassy notes on top of a polished belgian beer (east meets west thing) gottalottaibu (242), charlotte, North Carolina, USA Apr 2, 2007 amber reddish color with decent head. sweet spicy aroma. smooth warming tastes. touch of sweet balanced well with alcohol and malt. very enjoyable. Kingtubby (18), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Mar 29, 2007 Pours out a reddish gold color. Smells sweet and a bit hoppy. Sweet taste with a bit of alcohol flavor in the aftertaste. A hit of bitterness. Smooth on the palate with a lingering aftertaste. cyanescens (156), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 29, 2007 Sweet, fruity, nutty. Alcohol is present but smooth. Its an alright. Not really traditional. Atleast, decent ingredients... demitriustown (689), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA Mar 28, 2007 Bottle: Aroma of fruit, light malts, bubble gum coriander, pears, and a bit of alcohol. Appearance is a clear deep maroon with a medium sized tan head that lingers for a while. Taste consists of a fruity overtone, a malts are present but not overpowering. The is a definate alcohol bit to this brew as well. Palate is very carbonated, with the fruits lingering on into the aftertaste. Overall, A so-so Abt not quite measuring up to the better representations of the style. Cheers!!! keith0718 (157), Olathe, Kansas, USA Mar 25, 2007 There’s more ale than Belgium in this Belgian-style ale. Very sweet; and at first, I tasted an alcoholic aftertaste, but this seemed to go away as I got further into the beer. hapjydeuce (763), Del Mar, California, USA Mar 25, 2007 Pretty complex like a Belgian should be, but more like a dubbel, quadrupels are much more hefty I think. Id like to see it a bit darker upon the pour, but it wasnt bad, with a medium nose of malts and dark fruits. Hints of raisin, lots of sugar and alcohol finish. Good smooth palate that complements the alcohol finish
