Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Bottle: Aroma of fruit, light malts, bubble gum coriander, pears, and a bit of alcohol. Appearance is a clear deep maroon with a medium sized tan head that lingers for a while. Taste consists of a fruity overtone, a malts are present but not overpowering. The is a definate alcohol bit to this brew as well. Palate is very carbonated, with the fruits lingering on into the aftertaste. Overall, A so-so Abt not quite measuring up to the better representations of the style. Cheers!!!

There’s more ale than Belgium in this Belgian-style ale. Very sweet; and at first, I tasted an alcoholic aftertaste, but this seemed to go away as I got further into the beer.

Pretty complex like a Belgian should be, but more like a dubbel, quadrupels are much more hefty I think. Id like to see it a bit darker upon the pour, but it wasnt bad, with a medium nose of malts and dark fruits. Hints of raisin, lots of sugar and alcohol finish. Good smooth palate that complements the alcohol finish

I dont particularly care for colorado beers. This one is an exception. It was very good, a bit sweet for my taste. This beer put me over the edge on a long night of drinking.

Bottle. Nose is intense, lots of complexity. Apple juice at first, then alcohol, followed by pears, sugar, and hops. Color is a beautiful golden amber, with a steady thin white head, beautiful lacing, and some dancing carbonation rising toward the surface. Flavor is somewhat disappointing only in comparison with the aroma. It’s much heavier on the alcohol and apples. The palate, though, is the savior of the alcoholic-heavyness. It is smooth and light, but thick and strong.

The 22 ounce bottle poured a sparkling clear beautiful reddish amber beverage with a modest sized off-white head that was mostly lasting and left good lacing on the glass. The aroma was fruity and spicy with notes of orange peel, coriander, pepper and wild cherry. This one is a very full-bodied beer with lively carbonation and a smooth, creamy texture. The flavor starts out with a medium sweetness that lasts through the long finish. The sweetness faithfully follows the aroma in composition and the finish has a nice alcohol warmth as a bonus.

This is a slightly better than average quad. It has a nice ruby appearance and solid palate but over all this beer is just slightly better than its peers

Bottle. Pours with a off-white foamy head. Color is nice copper. Aroma is fruity with a sweet caramel hint. Caramel roasted malt with an oak wood tasted. Creamy smooth finish.
