Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

An amber beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with hints of caramel. The flavor is sweet, with notes of caramel as well as light notes of alcohol and spices on a dry background.

(Bottle 65 cl) Clear amber with a small, off-white head. Sweetish aroma of overripe fruit. Marked caramel sweetness from a shipload of malts. Plenty, fruity esters and a strong, sherry like alcohol. Almost no bitterness making this resemble a British Barleywine more than an Abt/Quadrupel. 291205

Ruby coloured. Pours thick, with almost no head. Very sweet with loads of almond and toffee aroma. Full bodied and really malty. This beer is a bit too sweet to really take me into Beer-Nirvana

1 pt 6 fl oz bottle. Pours slight hazy dark orange with a dense light orange head. Aroma solid pine hoppy with a light fruity note. The flavour starts with the same notes and goes into a sweet sugarish caramel malt flavour first before a more fruity and belgian yeast spiced flavour takes overs. Shows a mild woody note along the way. Hops reappear before the finish and provide a lifting feel to the dense abt flavours. Hoppy and dry towards woody finish.
