Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

22oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Poured a glowing deep ruby color with a small off white head. Light lacing was left on the glass. Nose of sweet cherries and other dark fruits. Flavor was pretty sweet with some caramel malts and an alcoholic finish.

aroma of lemon zest and nutmeg..color glowed an orangish bronz and was crystal clear...head was frothy and in existence...flavor whispered in spicy tones with a delicate sweet background..malty ending with hints of orange..alcohol very well hidden...strong beer but extremely delicate, like chewing on soft kleenex drenched in Gran Marnier ...detectable hop presence also

Pours a medium maroon sort of a color. Aroma is malty with a sort of a fruity smell. Slight alcohol scent. A bit of yeast also. Sweet roasted malty flavor. Some dark fruits and spice as well. The alcohol seems to be very well hidden. Somewhat sweet as well. This is my first quad, so I’m not sure how it compares to others, but I do know I like this.

Courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Pours amber, white head. Aroma good notes of licorice and candi sugar. Taste, malty, grainy, lots of alcohol, and plenty of sugar. Dark fruits and spices.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy medium reddish brown with a moderate off-white head that lasted through most of the glass. Aroma of bananas, plums and molasses. The initial sip was sweet molasses and plums with a somewhat syrupy mouthfeel. As the beer warmed, the flavors intensified a bit, as did the alcohol burn at the swallow. Good but not great.

a dark copper color w/ a nice white head made up of larger bubbles and dissapating quickly. smells of malts and cherries a hint of pepper as well... a nice complex aroma a carbonated, creamy palate that felt great going down. The taste is complex a bit sweet hints of alcohol over overly sweet almost a touch bitter on the tongue almost a bit overpowering in the flavor and not totally in a good way.. it improves a bit w/ temp.. and might be good to let age.

22 oz bottle. Pours a reddish amber(and this is a quad?) with a medium to large off white head. Aroma is toffee, caramel, belgian yeast. Taste is sweet caramel, toffee, yeast, with a full palate and an alcohol warming finish.
