That sweetness strikes again! This and the Salvation are to be sampled with 3 people. This is not a one person beer. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

I have seen it around everywhere, but never really looked into it. So I take him at his word. I knew right away that it was way too malty to be a triple. I was actually thinking dubbel. Didn’t seem really like a Quad to me. Still very good. Especially since I love a good dubbel. hehehe. Deep golden amber with a smallish head. Lots of malty aromas. Dark fruits and actaully rather quadish now that I think about it. Malt continues into the flavor. Dark and fruity, and almost no hop bitterness. It was really good. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma had noticeable alcohol and fruity esters, wheat and caramel notes on the nose. Taste was pleasent, very rich, and creamy with brown sugar and plum notes. A little spice in the finish as well. travita (1952), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Reddish in color with a good white head. Aromas is sweet with the fruitness and caramel coming through. Taste is sweet. Body has been lightened somewhat for the strenght of the beer. Not bad. AmEricanbrew (1946), orange, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 10, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a garnet hue with a small head that fizzed out quickly. Strong alcohol aroma along with caramel and spices. Malty sweetness and alcohol flavors dominate the palate with little if any hop presence. A so-so mouthfeel is syrupy sweet.
This beer has a raw , unrefined character. The syrupy sweetness and strong alcohol taste dominate this potentially excellent brew. I’m cellaring a couple bottles in hopes of discovering a diamond in the rough.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 6, 2002 Very, very nice brew. Bright clear red color, so clear it looks like Kool-Aid with a head. Alcohol is quite evident in the nose, along with plenty of pine, chocolate, toffee, and caramel. Flavor is very strong with heavy maltiness. Tastes quite a bit like a tricked-up scotch ale, actually. Get some nuts, cocoa, and spice. Very noticeable alcohol, but at 10% abv that’s expected. Finish is smooth and buttery with a bit of tartness. A very enjoyable brew.
