Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Pours amber, white head. Aroma good notes of licorice and candi sugar. Taste, malty, grainy, lots of alcohol, and plenty of sugar. Dark fruits and spices.

This was quite an interesting beer. The aroma was butterscotch, lemons, and alcohol. It poured a copper color with a rather large head. The flavor was very citrusy and spicy with some pears and apricots present. A very sweet and spicy finished. I enjoyed it.

Bottle. Pours copper with very thin white head. The aroma is kind of vinous with fruity notes, spicy malt, and alcohol. The flavor is zest, malt, peppery spices, and some leaf/wood elements. The alcohol only comes out in the distant aftertaste. This is kind of predictable, but good nonetheless.

On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Pours a light amber color with long lasting white head. Sweet malt aroma, candi sugar, caramel & molasses. Warm alcohol burn from the start that is met with some malt sweetness. Slight cherries & cream taste. Need some work

Thanks to gputty for sharing this one. Hazy golden orange with a slight white head. Nose is orange blossom honey, light malt, and a slightly sweet yeastiness. Somewhat fruity flavor, and a bit of a bite follows through to the finish. Another winner from Avery!

Good looking beer... a rusty-orange with slight haziness and a mostly lasting off-white head. Sour citrus aroma with pineapple, cherries and floral hops. Alcohol aromas emerged as it warmed. Matching flavor with spiced sour-fruitiness. I think the Reverend was a boxer because he kicked my ass.
