Sweet flavor with a medium intensity finish that leaves a pretty good aftertaste. Needs to find a bit more balance. Good, but a quad should be held to a higher standard. hayduke (1659), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2007 From a 22 oz bottle purchased in West Springfield. MA this poured a rich amber color with a moderate off-white head and nice rings of lacing. Nose is caramel malts and floral hops with a hint of banana. Mouthfeel rich and creamy. Flavor was of malts and hops, with fruits in the background. Somewhat on the sweet side. It hides the alcohol quite well. Very nice brew. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 14, 2004 Pours dark copper with only a white ring for head. Caramel, sweet malt and hard sugar candy in the aroma. Very sweet initial taste lasts quite awhile. Alot of sugar present in the flavor. Candy, caramel and molasses. Has only a slight warming feeling. Already bought one more. Can’t decide if I want to drink it or store it. I will agree with the "sinfully smooth" description without a doubt. MrManning (1652), London, Ontario, Canada

Aromas were of alcohol and very sweet.Re rate bumps it up a notch. Lots of alcoholic orange peel rind in nose and mouth. Very fruity and warming. Thanks for letting me try it again Mike! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 31, 2008 (Two year old bottle) Pours a glowing reddish amber colour with a small off white head. The aroma is very sweet sugary and quite complex with some alcohol warmth. The malt brings caramel and toffee but also some notes of cookies and almonds. Floral hops in the background. Bit yeasty and very fruity with tones of cherries, pears, oranges, plums, kiwi and currant. Also some spiciness in the background of pepper, cinnamon and maybe some clove. Hints of marzipan. The flavour is medium fruity, medium spicy, medium to full malty and sugary and light yeasty. Lots of caramel, toffee, almonds and cherries but also some hints of cinnamon and white pepper. The mouthfeel is soft, round and sticky, but not too sticky. Medium sweet and light bitter with a light dryish ending. Aftertaste is peppery with a lingering sugary and caramelly sting. Near full bodied. This is a quite nice beer but not that try to the style and something is missing. GG (1648), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2006 My 2nd time around with an Avery product. This time it’s their Quad. Fairly simply aroma, rather sweet IMO. In fact that hogs most of the senses. Appearance was dark golden, very clear. Mouthfeel was medium bodied. Flavors of brown sugar, dark fruit, malty and slightly hoppy. An enjoyable beer but not one I think to revisit. So far Avery really hasn’t shown me much, but I will keep trying. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Updated: Mar 19, 2006bottle. Pours a cloudy mahogany with a disappearing head. Aroma is assertively sweet without being sickening and is accompanied with the complexity of plums, cloves, figs, etc. It all comes together nicely in the flavor also with a dry vinous finish. The alcohol is not detectable. Totally solid take on the style, but doesn’t go above the already high standards for a quad. wetherel (1636), Encinitas, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 6, 2007 Tried at Churchill’s pub in San Diego. Dark rich color and rich flavor beer, with a great flavor, little smell, sweet (I crave sweet beers). Gave it a 3.5, but maybe closer to a 3.0. 3.5 is my "buy again" threshold.
