Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Bottle. Pours brown with a small light tan head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, not much fruit in the aroma. Flavor was of candy sugar, raisin, molasses, some spices. Sweet but not too sweet. Not a great quad, but a good beer nonetheless.

Bottle, Market Street in McKinney, TX. Pours a nice looking amber with beige head. Aroma is pretty complex, all I can say it is spicey and malty, with alcohol aroma. Flavor is very much the same pluse sweet. Mouth feel is full body, heavy, somewhat creamy smooth with med. carbonation....Over all I really like this one.....

Pours a nice clear crimson with a beige head. Aroma is yeasty and spicy like you would expect from a Belgian brew. The taste is overly sweet with tons of malt, belgian candy sugar and notes of spice/clove, dark fruits, brown sugar and caramel. Feels a thin on the palate. Overall, not bad but I wouldn’t seek it out again.

Bomber. Clear copper-brown color with thin bits of white head. Mostly sweet Belgian malts, dark fruits, and alcohol on the nose, but the aroma is pretty mild overall. Moderate dark fruits on the taste, a good helping of alcohol adds to the spicy finish. Palate a bit thin for such a strong beer. Seems like there should be more present in the taste, but lacks overall.

22 oz bomber purchased at Spirits RB. Pours a crisp clear burnt rust color wih a large white fluffy head that slowly recedes and leaves some lace on the glass. Aroma of yeast, candi sugar and some bread. Palate is on the thin side with a watery feel and average carbonation. Grainy flaovr with lots of bread, slight sweetness from the sugars, yeast, dough and fruit rind. Nice beer I just wish I had the patience to age it but alas I didn’t.

Pours a copper color with a smallish short lived head. Aroma is alcohol, sugar, and fruit. Flavors in this beer are big and complex, like the bottle. There is plenty of sugar, fruit, caramel, spice, and alcohol. Feels slick and slightly oily and is just a bit too clean. A wonderful beer!
