Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Pours a copper color with a smallish short lived head. Aroma is alcohol, sugar, and fruit. Flavors in this beer are big and complex, like the bottle. There is plenty of sugar, fruit, caramel, spice, and alcohol. Feels slick and slightly oily and is just a bit too clean. A wonderful beer!

Glimmering amber with a very small and thinly placed cap of quick to fade yellow dusted, off-white creamy foam. Very minimal lacing if any decides to stick. Aroma is quite average and understated with a mellow candied malt profile with a hint of rootbeer barrel candy , flowers, and a stint of plastic phenols. Taste is a bit plain and noncomplexing. There’s not much to it. Flavors are of dark candied molasses and over ripe mellons. Bits of dark cherry cola, cooked brown sugar, and dark wheat. Warmth of alcohol shows up very late in the back of the throat with a small left over caramel swirl and wheat tang. Feel is lively in the front with a brazen warmth and beefy carbonation that slips away a bit too quickly. Maintains a nice malty smoothness and lightly bold creamy tone from the middle on. Finishes with dark candy and a warming alcoholic back breath. Drinks fine and easy enough, but its lack luster to say the least and is missing the complexity a Quad should have. My $6 could have been better spent.

In a smokey bar hard to get a good aroma! Poured orange-brown some reddish tint. Tasted sweet malt, some alcohol but very smooth and very easy to drink! too easy!

VERY sweet. Taste makes your taste buds tingle from the first drink. Not bad but is a little strong.

Smelled like something similar to bleach. Poured a dark, cloudy brown with thick head. One of the best labels ive seen. Little bit too much for my taste, but not a bad beer.

Dark amber in color with a good sized off-white head. Aroma is of yeast, spices, caramel, and raisin. Taste is of molasses, rasins, cherries, and sweet malt.

Speckled bright auburn color. The nose is fruity with hints of raisin and lots of alcohol. The body is fruity with hints of caramel. Thick and quite yeasty. Big alcohol and too sweet for my liking.

Very light in color for a quad, lighter amber. Big sweet aroma, almost too sweet, a little plasticy. Lots of malt in the flavor, a little too sweet, alcohol. Big body, harsh alcohol burn. Disappointing.
