| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 14, 2005 I’ve cellared this beer since the week it hit Florida distribution, so maybe a bit over a year now.
Pours a striking mahogany body and a momentary tan head. The aroma and flavor offer suggestions of molasses and maple syrup, along with some mentions of caramel, toffee, and Belgian beet sugars. There is a nice and well-balanced arrangement of fruit and dried fruits in the mix, red apple, raisins, plums, dates and apricots. There is a gentle spiciness that shows up in the finish… black peppercorns and maybe a minute hint of anis. Very nicely done… a year in the cellar rounded things out in a remarkable fashion. The palate is sticky, with a hint of biscuity yeastyness in the finish.
Now that I’min my Friday night frame of mind… the cab is here… and I’m OUT! bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Apr 2, 2007 sampled at avery: reddish brown pour with a tan head. nose of sweet fruit and belgian yeast. flavors push the same rock candy sweetness typical for the style, had this right after the ellies what a differnece...so much more sugar here. some subtle hints of alcohol in the backbone. there was a dry hopped version with centennial hops that was fricken great...huge grassy notes on top of a polished belgian beer (east meets west thing) DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2006 22 oz. bottle on 10/20/06. Pours a dark amber with a large durable yellowish white head and excellent lace. A fruity, sweet aroma brings to mind cherries, prunes raisins, and honey. Smooth and lightly carbonated, medium/full body and a light stickiness on the palate. Sugary sweet flavor without much to dry it out, although there is some spicy hop notes to be found. Finishes sweet, but not cloying. This is pretty good, with a little more balance it would be great. Pwn3d (1134), Manhattan, New York, USA
