Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Really enjoyed this on tap. Has a small tan head and is a dark relatively clear ruby color. Aroma is peaches, raspberry, sweet malts and a little alcohol. Taste is peaches, vanilla and caramel. I found this to be very interesting.

An amber beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with hints of caramel. The flavor is sweet, with notes of caramel as well as light notes of alcohol and spices on a dry background.

This is like drinking a big glass og candi sugar, with a side of cotton candy. This quad is very upfront about its flavors, lots of alchohol in the aroma and the taste. Nice creamy body, with a wonderful silky mouthfeel. Highly enjoyable.

Aged 1 year, flavors really come together. Fruity aroma, with noticable hops and no alcohol. Dry and malty. Hop flavor noted. Very fruity. Upping from 3.6 to 4.0.

22 oz bottle. Carmel malty/fruity hot aroma and flavor. Cleaner than the tap version I had, but lacking a little depth. A little on the thin side. The age that I will put on some of these should be interesting. Tap at the Draught Room, Spring House. 6-5-6-3-13Clear orange with a tan head. Wintergreen aroma. Flavor is hot and sweet, with lots of crazy fruits. My three bottles of this one will be aged for a long time...

22oz Bomber. Nice looking clear amber colored ale with a dense and creamy head that dies quickly yet leaves scattered lacing inside the glass. Has a very Belgian quality to its aroma, rich in fruit, sweet and malty with a definite presence of candy sugar and yeast. Has a lively effervescent mouthfeel and a medium body which is smooth. The alcohol gives a nice warming sensation yet is absent of it's flavor and only slightly noticable in the nose. The flavor here is quite nice with a good fruity maltiness that has a good spicy peppery flavor as well. This is an excellent example of a good Belgian style which I enjoyed very much.

This is pretty good stuff! I am always impressed when a American brewery makes a good Belgian beer. Its reddish brown with all kinds of aromas, bananas, pears, bubblegum, alcohol. Honey fruity taste with a little alcohol burn. Complex array of flavors. Nice full mouthfeel. Sweet banana lingers in the finish. A Divine beer.

Despite the high ABV it remains very drinkable. Well balanced flavors of sweet and bitter please the nose and palate. Two of these made me miss the end of the Browns v. Steelers game (Zzzzz).

Draft - brewery. Go visit Avery and meet "Handtruck". He gives an excellent tour and will drink with you at the end answering any and all questions you might have. Belgian Quad - big and malty, but not too much maltiness, very strong, good flavor, good beer to taste, not good to pound! I am a hophead, so malty beers normally do nothing for me, but I enjoyed the Reverend very much.
