Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

The 22 ounce bottle poured a sparkling clear beautiful reddish amber beverage with a modest sized off-white head that was mostly lasting and left good lacing on the glass. The aroma was fruity and spicy with notes of orange peel, coriander, pepper and wild cherry. This one is a very full-bodied beer with lively carbonation and a smooth, creamy texture. The flavor starts out with a medium sweetness that lasts through the long finish. The sweetness faithfully follows the aroma in composition and the finish has a nice alcohol warmth as a bonus.

Nice shiny copper/red pour, big thick creamy cap of beige head that leaves a nice sticky lace on the glass. Zesty citrus aroma, spicy, floral and clean. Quite sweet with a nice bit of tartness. Alcohol is present in the finish, but still blends in surprisingly well. Very light mouthfeel for the ABV. Just a little sticky.

Man, nice one to avery. Not the kick i expected, but all around, a recommend drink. Citrus flavoured sweet malts and spices and very smooth. I agree with beer matrix that it’s not worth the $6.99 they were originally charging but on sale, it’s a steal. Tasty!....Im absolutely lit. like a firecracker. thank u 10%. Tokay is good though. Hungary rules!

Pours ruby red with an initially thick off-white head that eventually subsides into a thin lacing that sticks around for the duration of the tasting. Smells like a port with some very nice big grapey notes, allspice and oranges. Tastes of figs, raisins, nuts, milk chocolate, and toffee. Finish is somewhat champagne like with some tickley notes and a grapey dry aftertaste.

22oz bomber from blue max liquors minneapolis: saw this at the store and thought it’d be interesting so i picked it up. pours a deeeeeep gold like an oktoberfest or marzen and almost no head which quickly dissipates. very typical belgian aromas, and HEAVY sweetness in the flavor. Fairly strong, if I get any more of this I think I’d rather let it age several years for the flavors to develop.

Bottle just like the picture. Pours a deep clear red, head quickly fades, nice lacing. Sweet fruity aroma - rasins? Taste is a bit hot from the booze, sweet from the candisugar, perhaps a bit underhopped.

talk about bang for your buck. 4 dollar quad. pours a rich mahogney color with a small acidic head. Smells of fruits. Tastes like a dubbel with carmel notes .Cherries are presant too. Surprisgnly good, and refreshing as the alcohol is hidden.
