Commercial Description:
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

22oz. bottle: This one pours a slightly ruby tinged amber color. There was a very small off white head that disappeared almost immediately. There is some alcohol to the nose. Also notes of spices, caramel, and some fruits. It is very flavorful. There are many. Caramel, a hint of spices, maybe cherries. Nice.

Pours a medium maroon sort of a color. Aroma is malty with a sort of a fruity smell. Slight alcohol scent. A bit of yeast also. Sweet roasted malty flavor. Some dark fruits and spice as well. The alcohol seems to be very well hidden. Somewhat sweet as well. This is my first quad, so I’m not sure how it compares to others, but I do know I like this.

Pours a copper color with a smallish short lived head. Aroma is alcohol, sugar, and fruit. Flavors in this beer are big and complex, like the bottle. There is plenty of sugar, fruit, caramel, spice, and alcohol. Feels slick and slightly oily and is just a bit too clean. A wonderful beer!

I noticed quite a bit of smokey, woody notes in this beer. Initially alcohol and a medium body, with quite a bit of sweetness to complement the alcohol. Not overly sweet, but this beer has lots of good flavors.

Actually my first quad. Enjoyed it but a bit to sweet to love it. Like the chocolate and pineapple tones in the nose and the typical belgian taste. Like the bottle, correction love the bottle. Created by God, feared by Satan etc. and the wax dipping .... YIHAAA!!!

Bottle. A ruby amber color with a laced tan head. A spicy, clove/orange, sweet caramel aroma. A smooth enjoyable flavor and easy on the palate. The alcohol is extremely well hidden. A candy like flavor. Not too complex but enjoyable to drink.
